Full Version: Questions about PS2 version

I'm hoping to play the PS2 version of PSU in the near future and I got offered a great deal by the guy who owns my local import games store in Liverpool where he said that if I bought a Network Adaptor and a copy of the game, he'd offer £10.00 off the total price!Smile

To me, that sounds a better deal than having to go thru all the hassle of getting the Network Adaptor from eBay where I might get ripped off.

On another note, I have a few questions about getting online with the PS2 and I was hoping that I can find the answers here:

1) What's the best Wireless Ethernet Adaptor to use with the PS2 that's available.
2) What's the best Wireless Router/Modem available that runs at 108mbps speed-wise if possible... [In case anyone is wondering, there are some Wireless Router/Modems avaiable out there that run at that speed]
3) Anyone know of any good guides to getting online with the PS2 that I could print out nearer the time?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.Smile
Unless there is a new one the ps2 network adapter is wired only. On my one, once I screwed it in just plug and Ethernet cable in the back, paid £16.50 for it from a shop near me. Also to note I don't know which country your in but pstwo (slimline) sells on play for £80 and that has built in network adapterWink
I could have swore you could plug in a Ethernet device which you plug into the Network Adapter that makes it wireless...
For wireless console connections you could get something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-WGA54G-Wir...lectronics
I checked that device out which Phantom recommended and it doesn't look easy to set up, according to the reviews on Amazon.com, it seems.

I came across a similar device in Dixons mentioned on some packaging for a Wireless Modem Router by Netgear earlier today and that sounds tempting but whether I could find one is another matter...

Someone said this about getting online:
Quote:I connect PS2 to the router by an ethernet cable. The router is also my DNS & DHCP server, so it gives automatic IP address whenever I connect online. The settings on PS2 are basically saying that the router is the DNS & DHCP server.

(By the way, I have a screenshot of you. I automatically pressed PrintScreen when your HUcast joined a forest quest room I created when PSOBB beta came out. That's what you get for naming yourself after my favourite PS character, Thray Walsh. XD)
Mirinee, it's interesting that you have a screenshot of my character from the PSO:BB beta days...Smile [I must really get back to playing that game sometime...]

Any chance of posting it online here so everyone can see it?Smile

I was thinking of the ethernet cable route myself but it would probably be more hassle than it's worth. At the same time, thanks for the suggestion anyway...Smile
Have you tried asking at the SEGA boards? (It uses the same login as PSOBB so won't need to sign up again which is good).

Hope you find your adapter.

Yes, Mr Walsh!

and... I made a post in the screenshots thread. I must get back to playing that game too one day. ;D
I never thought of asking at the PSU boards, to be honest and I still have my login that I used when I was a frequent visitor to the PSO:BB boards...

I'll definitely ask there...Smile

BTW, thanks for posting the link to the screenshot!Smile
