4-1 conversion rate means your Stars Points won't get you many VC games

Gamers looking forward to swapping their currently useless Stars Points for Wii Points will have to trade in an estimated 8000 Stars to get just 2000 Wii Points when the offer opens later this year.

If this rumour, reported by German magazine N-Zone, is to be believed, you'll need to register 32 Wii or GameCube games, each getting you 250 Stars points to afford one 2000-point Wii Points Card. With each game costing £40, that works out at a whooping £1280, not to mention a tiresome code-entering chore.

It's all free stuff at the end of the day, which is a good thing but the European Stars Points Catalogue is still some way off the ultra-cool Japanese equivalent, which offers exclusive DS games and Nintendo figures.
It'd be great to see Nintendo finally get around to adjusting the European Stars Catalogue so you can actually spend them on stuff such as VC games as everyone first thought, but let's just hope it's gonna be at a much better conversion rate - That doesn't sound to great to me at the moment!

Another rumour on this same subject stated that Ninty will be implementing a system that means if you don't spend your points by the end of the year... you'll lose them for good!!!!!! I hope that does just stay as a rumour, because otherwise it'd just be seriously... lame...
Hmm... this seems nice, but what is a Star point? A Wii point?
Hehe, i probabily should have explained what the Stars are to everyone who isn't a European gamer!

Basically put, Nintendo of Europe run a Stars scheme whereby you can register 'Stars' that you find packaged inside selected Nintendo Gamecube/GameBoy Advance/Nintendo DS/Nintendo Wii games/or Hardware on Nintendo-Europe.com to spend in their online 'Stars Catalogue', letting you download some nice extra's such as Mobile Phone Ringtones, wallpapers, skins, etc, and on the rare occasion, actual games/hardware (Providing you have enough stars registered to your account & you're online before they sell out!!!).

However they're considering extending the scheme onto the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console so that you can change your Stars into Wii points, but obviously as the rumour above states, it's be at a rip-off exchange rate if true, considering how long it takes you to get a decent amount of Stars!
I think everyone in Europe would rather pay like, £15 for 2000 Wii Points than £1280...
