I played (and enjoyed!) PSU back at launch a year ago, but haven't been able to play since then. However, now would finally be a possible time to get into it again... Is is an ok time to start? Would I be able to find other levels to work through with?

Welcome back to PSU forums, I will strongly recommend you if you didn't came back, try to get the game Ambition of Illuminus before starting your account, it has 80% new missions and 90% of current players are playing them, new weapons, new classes, limits raised, max level 110 (soon 120). Welcome back. With the expansion out, and 1Up long gone (the rewards rolled in this Friday, which is awesome. +15% Synth, Free Makeovers... You might even be able to snag a Twin Flour. Bulb board in your Common Box) there's not really a better time to pick up PSU again. I have a couple of alts that could help you out if you're starting over. Look up my shop (still open despite Ambition being out!) sometime.
Ambition doesn't seem to be out in Europe till early next year, so I won't be playing that yet, just original PSU.

Yeah, AoI comes out February, but we got the synth adjustment as part of the pre-Ambition update to normal PSU, which also included the Just Attack/Just Counter system (Timed melee attacks for guaranteed criticals! Applies to PA's too!), the Lobby Flight change, which allows us to pay a small sum to fly to a field lobby we've already visited, and the Meseta rebalance, which means that Meseta drops are larger the more players there are in the party, and the pickup is distributed evenly among all players in the field. Also, Star Atomizers are on sale in the item shop.
And the 1Up bonuses apply to everyone, so yeah. It's a +15% Synth boost, half-price clothes and parts, free makeovers, and Twin Flourescent Blub boards in everyone's Common Box.

That's a good point, how long do you have to leave it until they delete your characters? Mine might well have dissapeared by now.
Oh well, I will probably start up again after christmas (as my brother will hopefully get me a pc gamepad
)
