This movie is absolutely terrible. I only saw 50 minutes because it made me sick. The whole thing is shot in a shaky first person view like blair witch only worse.
Well you can't please some people, I thought the movie was good. For once the monster wins....sorry for the spoiler.
I didnt think the plot was bad or anything. If I had been able to sit through it, I may have enjoyed it. I'm not even prone to motion sickness and it made me sick. The shakey camera is not just sickening it's annoying.
what is the story about, what the hell apeared on earth?
i only saw the tv comerical for now.
Ok the story is basicly this. One day this guy named Rob gets a promotion, he's now the vice-president of some company and has to move to Japan. So his brother decides to throw him a going away party. He uses the video camera to document it (so when Rob gets homesick he can watch it later). Anyway during the party the entire Manhatten(sp?) area has a blackout. When they get power back the news gives no explanation just that it had something to do with an oil tanker tipping over. Everyone runs to the roof to see the tanker blow up.

Then they run down into the street where they see the statue of liberty's head get tossed into the air and crashes into the street. Everyones panicing and some people are thinking it's some kinda terrorist attack. Turn's out a gaint monster is attacking New York. The main characters try to escape from newyork, then Rob gets a call on his cellphone. His ex-girlfriend was in her apartment when the monster attacked and now she can't move. Worried about her he tries to save her while trying not to get killed by the monster.

All this choas is shown through the video camera for about two hours(i forgot long it is). Think of it this way its"Blairwitch Project" meets "Godzilla".
seems nice, after a while i may need to rest my eyes, but seems okay for now.
btw, what has the name have to do with the movie, "codename: CLOVERFIELD"
Cloverfield is the name of the monster. It's given at the very beginning of the movie when it's also revealed that the movie is the only, (decent) footage of the monster and the tape is in the goverments possesion.
i've seen it i thought it was pants!
didn't going to watch this movie,I really wasn't interested, but I got some free tickets and said, why not, let's give it a chance. The movie was good, it will keep you on the edge of your seat but it isn't the greatest film as I've heard in other places. The story about a monster trying to destroy a big city isn't new, but this one is different because of the special effects and the ending that in my opinion wasn't the best. It also left me many questions like What is that monster? Where did he come from? Why is he attacking New York City? The camcorder style gives you the feeling of being there but as time passes by, you can get tired and even dizzy with it. The cast doesn't have any known name, thing that makes the movie a little more credible and the performances are convincing enough.

Openings for a sequel that will explain it.
