Has anyone picked up this game yet? I haven't had the chance to play it so I wanna know if there's anything different with the gameplay.
I got it on release Big Grin

Theres not a great deal of difference with the gameplay. Main differences are a handful of new weapons (mainly "turret" style weapons). The multiplayer modes have been updated and theres now alot more of them to delve into. Plus, there's the "Horde" mode which is alot of fun with a few friends (Online or S/S).

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this game to the first and I was even that excited for the game really, just though I'd get it and try it out.

I'd definately recommend it to you Cye, really good.
Horrible multi-player. The single-player is pretty boring, too... It's just the original with a few new weapons pretty much.
I checked out Gears of War 2, not much has changed since the first game. The controls are generally the same. But some of the new features makes the game worth while. The use of meat shields, sticking bombs on the backs of enemies (and walls), and the chainsaw fights are pretty decent additions to the game. I can't wait until 3 comes out.
I hope there isn't a third game. It's too thin story-wise as it is, and if they're just going to add a couple new moves, they may as well just make a DLC package.
You do have a point if all that was added was just a couple of moves then it should be available for the DL. But that's not all, they added a few new enemies, maps and an updated Unreal engine. But I'm dreading the release of the Gears of War film, like I dread the release of the other game to movie titles out there.
Rena, saying the game is horrible is so atypical.

Saying the story is lame is as well. What is horrible about? Damn near the best squad based team play out there. Next to CS Source. More fun than CS. The mantling and duck and cover gameplay allows for inventive ways to outsmart your opponent.

The story delves into that psychological niche of mankind's oncoming destruction from a force we cannot seem to stop....it's a damn good shooter. Has a solid story, for a shooter especially, the world and characters are interesting and never make the game boring. Yes, the original with some improvements. That's true. But look at some of the best games of the year for the last two or three years.....Oblivion, RE5, Halo 3, Resistance 2 and Killzone 2. Fallout 3.

None of those are IPS, they are all sequels, and all are hella good. It's judging a game based off the fact that YOU don't like it. I personally really don't like Halo anymore, or COD, but that doesn't mean they aren't good.

QFT.

Good point indeed.
me and my brothers played horde mode a LOT. we were really surprised when we got to horde number 30. imagine how we felt when we beat 50. sticking the grenades to enemies REALLY helped in horde. we played on hardcore the entire time so we needed a few noob tactics.

I want to see what's in the sequel but probably won't buy it. I rely on other family to buy the games and then I play them. Big Grin
