I am about to get online with the cube to PSO for the first time and I heard about FSOD. If the dreaded FSOD happens to me what is the best course of action so I dont lose all my data?
The best way to avoid it is don't carry extra weapons on you when you go to connect or disconnect, if you do, press all the buttons on the controller, this is called a soft reset, it will take you back to the main screen.
But Mini-Bert, I thought you are not online yet? One theory I heard was if FSOD happens, pull memory card out and switch of machine.

Can anyone else confirm?
FSOD isn't corruption, you just lose all un-equipped items that aren't in your bank am I right? As for that strategy...I dunno. FSOD X is the one that corrupts right?

Lol, I got fsoded a little while ago, lucky I only lose some mates.
Yes FSOD-X is the corrupting one.
FSOD would have devestated me if I didn't know about it, I tend to carry at least 5 weps, all really good, normally I bring like 8 though.
Don't piss anyone off. Most people FSOD for revenge. But most people wont FSOD you at random.
So how was your first day online vahn?
WEll i would fsod for no reason... TERRERIZE THE INTERNET!Big Grin

zer0, change your avitar plz. It does not fit u. *cough* zer0 is a he*cough*
My advice would be to stay out of blocks with masses of people in, plonk all of your items and meseta in bank before leaving games or disconnecting. This will minimise you chances of FSODing, I do this all the time and I haven’t been FSOD for at least a month or two Big Grin. The US blocks are the worst culprits in my opinion especially Vega, so stay clear of there.

FSOD-X is just one hell of a problem on PSO, now that the double save system has been eradicated the chances of you actually FSOD-Xing are extremely slim but could still happen none the less. Take a look at this guide for ways to recover your data if you actually do FSOD-X. Take a look at this handy thread for more information on the FSOD concept.
