i need help to set up my modem so i can get online
I dont have a modem adapter so i dont know exactly what you have to setup. I assume you just plug your telephone cable into the adapter and enter the isp name/password/dialup number through the pso network settings.

Hopefully you're not on AOL...
I'm on Dial-up still...unfortunately...What exactly are you having trouble with, its all quite straight forward really!

You'll need to contact your Internet Service Provider to get some of the details. I'm with Virgin.net, and they gave me the Dial-up number, and the DNS Server numbers, which is what you'll probabily need to find out, by contacting them via e-mail, or phone. Like Sol said, you also have to know if your ISP is compatable with the service, AOL are not, BT, Freeserve, Virgin...i would have thought most are, but you should find out from them first.

When you're on the Gamecube, set it up by choosing online game, or homepage, and from there on you'll be able to set up your Internet settings..make sure the Memory Card you use has a couple of blocks free beforehand, as its all saved onto it. From then on, it'll ask you for Name, Address, Phone Numbers, Postcode, Phantasy Star Online Serial Number, Internet provider Details, inc. Name, DNS Server Numbers, Dial-up Number, and then they'll ask you to set up an account with PlaySega.com which you do at the sametime, and they'll ask you to give a Username, and Password which you make up at the time. First time i dont think you need to give biling details, but you will need to read through the Liscense Agreement...you should get the first Hunters Liscense free of charge entitling you to 30 days of online play for free. After that, you go to Homepage on Phantasy Star Online...or playsega.com giving that same Username and Password to access your account, and pay for another Hunters Liscense.

Thats all you need to do, as far as i can remember...i did it a long time ago, but nothing will have changed! Any problems, just ask!
If you’re using the modem adapter you will need the following parameters from your ISP. Everything with the optional note in the brackets may be necessary for some ISP. If your ISP doesn't supply you with some connection parameters leave them blank
  • User ID
  • Password
  • Phone number
  • Primary DNS Server address (optional)
  • Secondary DNS Server address (optional)
  • Proxy Server address and port number (optional, 8080 is the most common)

Also you have to set the connection with the "tone" option and not "pulse"

It’s much easier than broadband Tongue.
