I think they lived on Earth but due to over-population, we had to look for another planet :alien:
Their home planet's name was "Coral." In the intro to Episode 3 it tells you all about it. Coral had been struck by a meteor from Ragol's star system and over time the planet could not support the massive population thus starting the Pioneer Project.

ok, the story in Episode 3 starts - " Humans began to settle among the stars..... " that's all it really says, the rest is all about how the meteor hit and caused the people to start the Pioneer Project.
