What is the purpose/gain of hitting the Do Re Le's shell bits? (i.e. not it's head)
It takes damage, otherwise it would be unfair for forces to take ages volleying at its head.
Is that it? They don't snap off or anything?
Yeah they fall off in time.
Are they more vunerable to damage/attacks after that?
You can still hit them, not sure about the damage increasing. I dont think so....

the shell is the better place to attack if you have a sword type weapon, you can hit like 8 parts at once (and break off all 8 at once and then hit and 8x the damage on de rol le). If you read my Challenge 4 guide, you'll see i highly recommend hitting the body, its much faster.
