It really depends on the reasoning behind the fasination with anime. It comes from Jap society background most of the time and though it has it's good and bad side the hide the bad much better than other nations. Not to mention that they put alot of thought into their plot outlines like the gundam series. It almost seems that humanity could end up like some of these animes if the right events and advancements happen. (IMO of course)
