hehehe. Good to see some people still like the DC. I've got Grandia 2 for the PC and it's quite good. SOA is one, if not the, best RPG in my opinion. But I have to admit I haven't played some of the more popular ones that are supposed to be good like FF.

Its was 2 for £30 in HMV. But most games shops do it. Check http://www.play.com, they probably do it.

Lee-yoshi Wrote:I honestly reckon is was just too ahead of its time. It amazes me how SEGA's consoles go down the toilet while others pick up. The SEGA Game gear is another example which was much more advanced then any GameBoy at the time and is still i reckon competition for the GBA. It was just way ahead of it's time and should have maybe been marketed a bit more.
SEGA's consoles were also quite expensive. The SEGA Saturn was WAY too pricy at first, but i really wanted one. I never did get one, and at it's time, even though it was better then anything else available, it too entered the toilet.
Yea, Sega consoles are TOO expincive..
I bought a sega gienasus and it was way to pricey

They are expensive at the start. Like all consoles. You wait until Christmas (most consoles are released just before) and they all drop down in price. They cash in on the 'hard-core' gamers who get their console on the day of release. Like mine ^_^;. I got DC for £200 and it dropped to £100 a few months later. But I didn't care. I owned the console and it pwned my time and social life

the Dreamcast failed because Sega, as in the case of Saturn, failed to gain 3rd party support and failed to promote the console.. there was a lot of advertising leading up to 9/9/99, but after that it died away... Sega could have outsold PS2 if they wanted to...
think about it, it had out of the box online game play.. had Sega advertised that like crazy they could have grabbed so much support... i think Dreamcast had a lot more life in it than Sega gave.. but oh well, i still play mine...

i agree, i think the dreamcast could of still competed for at least anuva year, but instead it just died, and so did one of the greatest series of games of all time with it...shenmue.
they was gonna release like 6 or something at first, the DC only ever got two cos it died within like 3 years of release.
I mean where is shenmue 3!! pleeeeeeeeease sega, tell me! lol

Most of the gaming community ...aka the makers...
They all wanted a piece of the PS2 ..which is funny cause the PS2 is one of if not THE hardest console to code for.. where as the DC was a whole lot easier... Apart from Sega there wasnt really any backing for games ..
Don't you think its funny how Nintendo showed Sony the ropes on making a console (remember the SNES.. it was gonna have a CD drive like Sega's Mega CD then Sony decided it would make more money goin it alone)
If you ask me... I personally wouldnt have left the DC if and i do say IF .. Sega didnt give up on it. Its a pity it didnt work out because i would rate it as my fav console. The PS2 in my own eyes is a piece of ****.

ok here we go
Shenmue was meant to be in 6-8 parts and there are rumors that it is being made for 'a' console with the first 2 in a bundle (so not the XBox..cross-fingers pls be CUBE, pls be CUBE)
The dreamcast failed because too many people had Playstations so PS2 was their choice, there was about 3 european adverts for dreamcast games (loads in Japan DC did well there) and it didn't have a DVD player which gave everone the impression that graphics couldn't be as good as the PS2's.
Sega did bugger it up as backwards compatability would have helped and prolonged its life hell the Saturn was a damn good console but the same problems the DC had the Saturn had also. The Saturn was better than the PS in most ways but didn't have the financial backup that Sony had to gain 3rd party support lowering the quantity of games this then followed through to the DC. Sega like Nintendo left Europe to its own devices and didn't put out, as already mentioned, enough adverts allowing Sony to capitalise the market.
wow, im knackered after that I cant think of anything else at the moment.
EDIT: i have to agree with the above sentiment the PS2 compared to all the other consoles is s*** the only reason ive got one is my sister has the Eyetoy and Dancemats, FF is about the only thing I play on it.
