The differences between
Phantasy Star Online, Episodes I & II, and
Episodes I & II Plus are, it's simply an updated version of the original creating more of the online aspects of the game available in offline play of the game for those who are maybe unable to play with the rest of the world.
According to
webpage, the game will feature the following:
- Quests and Mini-games from PSO I & II that were previously only available online.
- Three Episode II Quests: 'Seat of the Heart', 'The East Tower', and 'The West Tower'.
- Five multiplayer Challenge Mode stages.
- and Two Downloadable Mini-games: NiGHTS - Score Attack and Puyo Pop.

Those 5 challenge mode stages are episode 2.
I think the Jp release also had BA 7 and 8.

They're episode 2 are they? Thats quite surprising because they cudnt have been on the JP release unless its been available on Plus since it came out. Episode II challenge Mode is fairly new and Plus was out pratically the sametime as Episode 3 in Japan.
Also Battle rules 7 & 8 are fairly new, so maybe they've updated Plus for the U.S. release. Good news to hear if it's true.
They were on Plus for the Jp release. That's how PSOW had guides for Ep2 Cmode stages way before they were released online.
I am pretty sure Ba7 and 8 were on Jp Plus also.
ST have had these things ready for ages, but drip feed them online to ensure we keep paying for our HL's. The Plus exclusives (as they were at the time of the Jp release) were put there to ensure it sold well.
Ah interesting. I wudn't have been surprised, it all makes sense from a business perspective.
