Really? What exactly is the difference between 50 and 60 Hz?

the speed. its so slow on 50hz compared to 60hz

Is it the gamecube that runs itself on 50Hz? Or does the TV make it do so?

60 Hz only works on newer tvs which suport it

Bah all you UKers and your primitive TVs. :/ I can hardly understand any of this.

To see if your TV can run under a 60Hz environment just check the TVs manual which came with it. If you cant find it just boot your GC up with PSO and hold B untill the hz select screen comes up, select 60Hz and if the TV doesnt go all mad then its fine .

Haha I wish it just makes the screen go all wonky and the colours fuzz out.
