I usually have 5-6 different weapons in my inventory. I do this so that I have a weapon for each type of enemy I encounter and can battle every monster with an advantage.

i just have long range, short range, and sometimes close combat

I don't use Close Combat, since I at least partly go for looks and style.

i just have one for emergencies, but usually enemies don't get that close to me so i just use mechguns when they get near me

same...always use your weapons to there best extent

Shadamoo tends to keep various weapons around, Chain Sawd, 35% Hit Sange, Supressed Gun and something else as well. I have the Shield Of Delsaber and some frame with 3 slots. I have God/Arm, Resist/Evil and Metal/Body attached as well.
Sophie keeps her trusty Twin Brand with her, and is borrowing Shadas Musashi!
Snake has Justy, Wals, Visk and a 50% Hit Masters Cannon with him at all times.
(paoka) keeps a Hildebear Cane and Ice Staff Dagon with him.
