No no, not a PSO hack. (thankfully) I'm talking about the admins uploading a hack to the forums to allow users to have a custom title/rank of their choice. On another vBulletin forum I visit they have this. Their system is as follows:

Once the member reaches 1000 posts, they get a type of reward. This "reward" is where they may choose to have a title of their own choosing. This title is in addition to the other ranks, such as the "Wizard" one that I currently possess. Once they reach their 1000 post "goal", they can edit their profiles using their User CP, and input a custom title if they wish. Also, anybody else under the 1K posts (ie: moderators) may also have such a title.

Whether this hack is available currently, if it costs anything, or if the admins would like such a feature on the forums, I do not know. I think it would be a grand idea, but it's just a suggestion. I haven't checked, but it might be available @ vbulletin.com

Yea there are a number of hacks available, however most of them seem to promote power posting / spamming..

If the mods were to put this 'hack' on people would be replying to post 70% of em being offtopic, but if that does happen then more people will be on...

I understand the concern of spamming, but if you haven't noticed, its already in alot of places xD

I say give it a test, and if the amount of spam increases, remove it ^^

I agree with Mini Bert. Try it for a while to see if spam rises. Still sounds cool though.

I see your point, Sol. I seriously do, it happens at many forums. But, perhaps, if you find that somebody has reached 1K by spamming quite a lot, perhaps just remove their custom title privileges. it's up to you, but I say give it a shot.

I think its a very good idea, but with the promotion of spam with it, Im not sure. I agree Mini_Bert also, a test run should work.

Yes that's what I really think would work. Sol could upload the hack and test it. If the announcement of the new feature suiddenly brings up a spamfest, take it out.

Or he could upload the hack, if it works ok, just dont announce it at all. people will find out they can change there user title when they get their 1000 posts and they wont know that they have to get to 1000 for it to happen, so they probly wont spam.

Hmm...that just might work. I'm going to PM Sol about it, see if he'll upload it or not. Thanks for all the input thus far, guys.
