I picked up pso1&2 plus...but I found out the modem is discontinued, I could snag one off ebay or something, but I heard the servers were down, so how do I get online?
Ummmmm...the servers are indeed still active(unless your talking dreamcast, which im sure youre not) so all you'd have to do is set up your ISP settings, buy a hunters license and let the addiction flourish.

Ok...after getting your modem you can set up your ISP settings and register your hunters license directly through the game. These settings can be found in the options menu of PSO under network settings. Just go into those fill in the necessary blanks (i.e. your username, password, dial-up #, etc.) and then select the "Purchase a Hunter's License" option which should take you to the registering web page.
And about the X-mas quests and themes, those are just going up, so you should have at least a month or so until they're taken down. If it's any help, the halloween features were put up at the beginning october and are being taken down now, so if thats an indicator, i'd say you've got at least a month and a half until they'll take the x-mas stuff down. (gasp)
All the christmas items on Gamecube come down 28th December, where they will probabily be replaced by a New Years theme of some sort...
