Are the chances of finding rare items reduced if a character is wearing and using rare weapons/items? Is it easier to find stuff on Normal or Hard level.

The reason I ask this is since I started playing on Ultimate Level "very rarely" do I find animal parts or rare weapons. Its very frustrating. I used to find them on a semi-frequent basis. I was really excited about finally playing on challenging new level. I love the new creatures and the enhanced environments. I really do. But, so far I have been dissapppointed with the lack of new weapons and rewards. I have even started to wonder about continuing to play. :|

I have poured through the various PSO sites looking at all the magnificent rare items. Perhaps my expectations were too high. I found better stuff on V. Hard.
Everything is random. Just because you have rare items equipped doenst mean anything. You're just having bad luck finding items...
Well, the items on ultimate mode are indeed far better than those found on v-hard, but that comes with a price. The drop rates are largely increased on ultimate due to the increase in item rarity. The average drop ratio on v-hard ranges from chances like 1/64 to 1/365, while on ultimate the average on finding rares greatly increases to range from 1/213 all the way up to 1/280000 for some items.

So the items are indeed harder to find and are less frequent in ultimate, but the payoff is definitely worth it. I recommend just to focus on leveling for now and once you decide on a rare to hunt (by searching the drop charts of course) then frequently run that stage trying to find it. Otherwise just play and be patient, if you stop thinking so hard about those little red boxes then who knows, you might be suprised with what you find.

And items equipped makes no difference, its all luck of the drop. Happy Hunting!
Thanks for the input and advice. Believe me, it is greatly appreciated. I was starting to get worried that I was doing something wrong. Smile

Don't let anyone ever say that this isn't a supportive forum. Thanks.
