I'm sure I've read this before.... and it's something to do with spells and elements or something as SC-Teh EkwEE said.

He has a random attribute (thus the "???") that changes every so often, when he causes smoke to fly around himself. This also changes his elemental weakness to either fire, ice, lightning, or light (so have Grants on a button too, if you're a Force). When he turns you into Flowen, you have to hit him with a weapon that matches his attribute with its own percents, or else you get hit instead. Ex.: if he's using Machine attribute, only a weapon with Machine percents can damage him. Sometimes you just have to run around and wait for him to give you your soul back.

Um... wait till he turns you into flowen?, man its the soul eater that gives u the power to be flowen, just hit him a few times and vala your Flowen, your ID changes to whitill as well.

...no that works with any wep it just.. happens in the later modes

yes it happens with any weapons...

since i created the thread..
i have beaten him...

i just ran into the weapons shop...
bought a crappy gun with all percents..
and viola...
(or walla as some spell it)....

then if that didn't work i would try all the spells tilll somehting hit...
