Giving the open beta Chinese PSO PC a try since I can't get on my GC. Beats studying for exams.

Beta just started today. Lots of people there, all newbies, and no hackers (yet!) I've not even seen one hard-mode game. http://www.psobb.cn if you're interested. Sign up is free.
Can you actually read Chinese or is it a case of, "Let's see what this button does...*Boom*"?
I was thinking when typing that, that you would have to read the item's, but you can just use the symbols to see what the items are.... apart from weapons of course.
Hardly. But it's not that difficult. They're just symbols. Try the item, memorize what the the first symbol of its name looks like, and there you go. There're not that many items around for the low level hunter. I've played the Ver2 PC Japanese version not knowing a single Japanese charater. XD The most difficult thing was communicating with team members.

Yes, but with items like Monofluid, Monomate and Monogrinder, wouldnt you be completely screwed unless you remember positions in your item pack.
By the way, is it free? I might try this.
I've not found a monogrinder yet :S. But their monomate is easy: it literally translates as "little HP replenishment". So, there's "medium" and "big" HP replenishments for di- and trimates, I would guess. Hehe. TP are the fluids.

Yes. Beta's free. I play in the third server, ship 10-3.
Monogrinders will be difficult to know. As will materials and tech disks until you use them. They can't be 'bookmarked' I think, or have their own special symbol. At least not in GC. The spells you won't know till it's used and appears on your list.

I think 大 is for big.....
Correct, it indeed is. That'll be a trifluid/mate (or grinder). I bet identifying mats won't be a problem, as the stats Pow, Def, etc. are almost the same as they are in Japanese (I'd learned those symbols a long time ago), and the spells, I know the symbols for fire, ice and lightning. I just don't know what the gi/ra stuff are yet. They haven't kept to phonetics and I'm a bit annoyed about that. (In Japanese, e.g. their foie is exactly "foie" when pronounced in their katakana(?) alphabet, whereas in Chinese, it's ... fully translated into Chinese!)
i wanna signup but idk how!
