Unforeseen Allies
~~Story by Kashima.
~Beta Read by Karasu Murder

Kashima fidgeted faintly as he shifted his weight in the uncomfortable leather chair. He had been sitting inside of the lab being debriefed for the last hour or so on the specifics of his mission by the commander and chief, Natasha. The young, tan skinned hunter nodded at all of her words running a hand through his shoulder length black hair, his expression showing more then a little exasperation.
“Though I'm flattered you've chosen me to lead this excavation from the reports given, I'm nowhere near qualified enough to do this alone.”
“Exactly what are you getting at Mr. Kashima?” Nastasha queried coolly, her Russian accent giving her pronunciation of the words a slight inflection.
“To put it simply I'll need a team of hunters that consists of more than myself, if you're willing to give me time to find allies and compensate them as well.” He said flatly.
“You have yourself a deal.” A thoughtful frown caused her lips to twinge downwards at this news. The government didn't condone the idea of actually paying hunters suitable amounts for their services, but with a group of experienced hunters it couldn't be avoided.”
“Fine then you bring me a team of crack hunters and you have a deal.” She paused, sinking into thought as she glanced at the young man before her. A length of silence passed between them before she spoke again. “You have two days to assemble this team of yours, Kashima. I eagerly await to see who you bring me.” The young man bowed to her in a gesture of respect and exited her office, heading towards the central teleporter to take him back to the residential area.
“The task is set firmly in hand now it's a matter of actually finding people who will benefit my causes.” He murmured softly as he glanced at his surroundings with an almost bored air. Several names ran through his mind, legendary figures even.
“Ahh, if only Red Ring and Flowen were still around…” he supposed with a wistful chuckle. Little did he know the truth that actually awaited him. Kashima quickly made way back to his apartment not bothering to change out of his casual attire, merely reaching for a small personal digital assistant. The young man glanced at it; leafing through the names of every hunter he had ever worked or associated with. As harsh as it was in his own mind he didn't want to bring anyone along who would see this as training he needed hunters as experienced as he. The hunter scanned the names, finally landing on a few familiar ones, which he stopped to read over.
Dark Magician a force he knew well and trusted greatly, he would be great to have along. Powerful magic, independent, and arrogant he would survive to the end, simply to say he had did something others hadn't managed to. Then there was Mirinee, yet another force he was acquainted with. While not as powerful as Dark Magician, her sense of teamwork and concern for those she worked with would prove as great aid to the group. At last his eyes landed on the last name on the list, though certainly not least, he mused with a wry grin. Iori Yagami, a hunter whom Kashima wasn't too fond of but had no choice but to respect. Perhaps they were too much alike, or perhaps it was because when last they met he left Kashima battered and bruised and questioning his own strength. Of which reason it was, the young hunter wasn’t quite sure, but he chose not to dwell on it at the time, deciding instead to focus on the positive aspects. Strong allies were strong allies and that was what was desirable at the moment.
So it was done, he had a team in mind. With a sigh, he took his shirt off, tossing it to land across the room, where it draped itself over a half-broken last survivor. He paid it no mind as he made way to a laptop, easily pulling up the files of these other Hunters. What he read a moment later caused a growl of frustration to reach his throat, but he merely shook it off in annoyance, closing the laptop once more to think.
“Two available and two missing just as I expected...Well I certainly do have my work cut out for me...”

Chap 2: The Force of compassion

The easiest one to find would be Mirinee. She seemed to be the closest one to “normal” within the entire group that Kashima had managed to cull from a reference file for the last apartment she had been staying in. The young hunter looked at the solid door before him and took a deep breath before knocking, mentally preparing himself for the worst.
“It’s open; please feel free to come inside!” A pleasant female voice called out to him from the other side of the door. He paused in hesitation for a moment before stepping through the door, offering her an open smile.
“Long time no see Mirinee.” he said in an almost timid fashion, not adept at the art of asking others for help.
“Well, it hasn't been all that long I imagine. Maybe...what five, maybe six months?” He laughed softly nodding at her words
“Yeah, like I said a while...anyway I’ll be blunt…I need help, Mirinee. I've recently been given a mission to investigate the whole pioneer 1 incident but I don't think it would be wise for me to go it alone …Would you care to help?” he queried, glancing up at her face to gage her reaction.
“Well first off step inside we haven’t seen each other for months and you barely step an inch inside my apartment!” She scolded, watching with an amused chuckle as he hastily stepped inside bowing to her.
“Sorry where are my manners today…” he offered, rubbing the back of his head as he looked to her.
“At home where you always leave them I imagine.” She said mischievously, offering him a good natured grin before speaking again. “So sit tell me of this new mission of yours that requires even YOU to ask for help.” Kashima offered up a nervous chuckle, flashing the girl a sheepish grin.
“They want us to check out the famous Pioneer 1 incident and find out what really happened to all the people down there. You know...why we never heard anything back from any of them…They want us to actually go down onto the planet and forage around see what we can find out for them…so you game?” he held his breath while she considered his request
“Sure it sounds like a lot of fun to me!” Mirinee said back, her eyes brimming with animated delight as she grabbed up a nearby Hildeblues cane, aiming it at Kashima with a smirk.
“You just say when and where and we’ll be there with bells on!
“Glad to hear it…say when’s the last time you saw HIM?” he asked, catching her eye meaningfully. She bit her lip with thought, shrugging.
“He’s around...I think. I haven’t talked to him in awhile... Interesting this makes the task all the more difficult now…
Not bad, fairly descripitve, a little lacking in the creativity area.....then again it's too early to judge that.....oh, and please, POST IN A LIGHTER COLOUR >< I have to highlight it to read it ><....Will this be a good story? I'll have to wait for more before I can judge that.....

Wow, I posted.
Very funny Albert.

Kashima, I think this will turn out well. Remember; If in doubt, KILL EVERYTHING!
Chapter three The force of good and evil

Kashima looked around the area he had entered quietly. This part of pioneer 2 used hologram technologies to replicate different backdrops. He looked to the calm background of a sunny sky and almost smiled to himself.
“It’s actually nice not to stare off into the vastness of space for once...I could definitely see Dark magician residing in a place like this.” He mused softly, chuckling to himself. Dark magician a man who knew no permanent home or dwelling but this placed reeked of tranquility, and it would provide and interesting contrast to the emotions that raged within his longtime ally. He continued his walk approaching a large crystalline dome appearing to be a greenhouse of some sort.
“Nice very nice indeed...” in his quiet conversation with himself he hadn't noticed the Varista at his side slowly removing itself from his hip and floating away.
“You always placed too much faith in these little toys!” A voice called out seemingly from everywhere at once. “It's no wonder you come here seeking my assistance this day Kashima.”
“Heh, guess you have my figured out to a “T” huh Dark Magician?” He gradually reached for a small handgun and fired a shot off in the distance waiting to see if there was a reply. There was silence before a glowing ball of feathered darkness shot out from a far off shrubbery. Kashima tucked and rolled barely managing to avoid the attack, a slow grin forming on the hunter’s face.
“I'll have you know that shot singed my robes you fool!” Kashima paused for a moment to absorb the words, before he let out a loud peal of laughter, grinning.
“Nice to know our friendship doesn't hinder your anger any. So tell me, Dark Magician, how have you been these past months?”
“Fine, fine I imagine. I've furthered trained myself in the arcane arts so that I may stay at the top of my game, and what of you my friend?” he replied with an easy smile.
“Same weapons practice as always versatility over mastery I always say.” So how did you know what I was here for?” he asked, suddenly swerving the topic to a new area.
“Simply put I read your thoughts Kashima. None of your normal mental barriers are in place, and it makes you easy for me to prey on. The question you have matters not simply know my answer is yes…One day left Kashima I suggest you find our fourth soon …”

Chapter 4 The flame of the apathetic and crazed

Iori Yagami was the master of the demonic flames; a curse passed down through the bloodline of his people and a story that Kashima knew all to well. Last they met Kashima had ended up in the infirmary with several broken ribs and burns over the course of his body, but this time however, he hoped the outcome would be different. He slid his angry fists over his hands watching as they instantly blended in with his skin to look as if they weren't there. Even for hunters it was ill advised to enter this part of town without some form of armament.
The south district of Pioneer 2, where all the low-life’s hung out. Bars, tattoo parlors, and various types of clubs littered the streets here. How he hated even being here but this is where he would find Iori, no doubt knee-deep in all the trouble present. The young Hunter looked up as he came upon the Iron Maiden, the most lethal place known to Pioneer 2 and curled his lip slightly.
‘Perhaps he's here...’ Before he could further contemplate the thought, a man came flying out the door immersed in purple flames, crashing into the brick wall of the next building over.
“Iori…” Kashima stepped inside the bar, looking to the cheering masses as Iori hopped down from the bar’s counter, tossing his head back and cackling malevolently running a hand through his short red hair.
“Can no one here douse my flames?” His eyes were blood red a sure sign that the latent evil in him had gained control this night, a foreboding thought indeed. As Kashima watched him, he noted that Iori had begun speaking again, his lips curled with dark amusement.
“Or is everyone here to afraid of the flame that scorches the very soul of whomever it touches?” at this, Kashima stepped forward.
“I'll take that challenge Iori, if you can even be called that when you're like this.”
Ahh Kashima do you still remember last time we clashed? I left you in a pool of your own burning blood.” He replied in a honey sweet voice, his eyes burning with dark intent.
“Yeah I think I have a few ways around that this time. So are we gonna do this or what?” He sighed slowly balling his hands into fists holding them out parallel to each other in front of his body. Iori placed a hand to his head laughing quietly before moving to walk forward, slowly at first before suddenly exploding into motion towards Kashima, flames following in his footsteps. Just like before he muttered to himself as he ran at him trying to match his speed cocking one arm back as he ducked in low, going for a foot sweep followed by an uppercut. Iori gracefully leapt over the first attack spinning around lithely, backhanding him with a fist full of purple flame attempting to singe Kashima's hand. Their fists met and impacted, the power of the fully grinded fist colliding with the purple flames sending both of them skidding back several feet.
“That's definitely new Kashima, I see you’re much better equipped this time but no real matter it'll end the same as always I assure you!” He slammed his hands into the ground sending two surging spikes of fire towards the young hunter not caring for the wellbeing of the innocent bystanders who watched, several perishing in the flames of his onslaught.
Kashima reared back concentrating before thrusting his arms forward.
“Gibarta!” A long beam of frost reached out to meet Iori's attack canceling it in the nick of time.
“Not bad not bad at all!” He shouted as he hunched over, running at Kashima. His speed was ungodly this time around. He grabbed the young hunter by the face squeezing cruelly before leaping up in a spiraling pattern, taking them upwards through the ceiling of the club depositing them on the roof.
“Now tell me Kashima why did you come here and seek to ruin my fun this eve!?” He struggled to breathe as he flailed, clawing at Iori’s hands to free himself from Iori's grip, finally managing to plant a firm fist to his stomach, quickly following up with a round-house and an attempted special attack from the angry fist that just barely missed its mark.
“Damnit…I came to talk to Iori, the *real* Iori, not some feral creature who only lusts for blood!” he shouted angrily, glaring at the other before him.
“Heh...” Iori offered a cold smirk, followed by a series of blistering punches to Kashima's Midsection. “He's not available right now but...” He grabbed The young Hunter by the face yet again, leaping up into the air and spiraling as he slammed him back into the cold concrete thrashing his body against the ground. “I am...”
This time ill see to it that you don't make any hasty recoveries Kashima!” he began to walk carrying the other hunter’s battered body over to the ledge of the building, holding Kashima over it as he leapt down once more his body engulfing in flames as he spiraled Kashima’s body down towards the cold street below smirking cruelly to himself.
Kashima battled wildly to get free but to no avail closing his eyes as he waited for death to come. The two of them collided into the ground and the sickening sound of bones cracking and breaking echoed through the cold night air.
“Heh he put up more of a fight last time...” Iori moved to spit on the corpse watching in mild disbelief as the body splintered and smoldered like wood. “What the hell...?” Before he could realize what had happened, Kashima decked him full in the face, following by kneeing him in the crotch, then before punching each arm with the special of the angry fist freezing him to the side of the building. He watched him with his own grin now, panting heavily.
“Scape dolls, Iori. Scape dolls.” The other mans eyes cleared as the possession wore off.
“Huh where the hell am I? Kashima what the hell are you doing here?” Kashima offered a tired smile before collapsing at his feet losing all consciousness as the blackness engulfed him completely.
