L3 is the button on the PS2 when you press down on the left analog stick. (Wow...such a boring answer....lets dress it up a bit...)
L3 is the hidden button that most don't know about, but it lurks deep within the bowels of the controller. Clicked with the pressure of one's left thumb and strangely accessible this mysterious button exists. Once found it becomes an elusive treasure, forever to be neglected and doomed to a life of opening maps and being used in cheats. (Much better answer!)

Sd28 - You realise this is the only game where I've found this L3, plus I don't normally "cheat" mmkay? :O

read the instruction manual for the control pad or consol it displays all the buttons hell even cheak game instructoin manuals
and remember the manual is your friend

I used to take my manuals to school and read them in class when I was bored. Especially my PSO, Zelda, and Sonic Adventure booklets.
I used to not know what L3 and R3 were either.

Yeah i spent weeks on GTA3 stuck when i first got it because of that. I looked at the manual but it just pointed to the stick so i thought the stick itself was L3 i dident think it was a button as well
