I just recently downloaded, and by recently I mean last night, MSN Messenger Beta. It's the newest version of the most popular chat service on the Web. The differences between it and the newest version apart from it, 6.2, are several. For instance:

- You can actually write (as you would with a 'paintbrush' in Microsoft Paint) a message to a friend.
- There are little items called 'Winks' now included, in which you may send to your buddy and they will receive it as a little animated picture on their chatroom screen.
- A new more attractive look and layout for the Buddy List.
- Contact Cards including personal picture and e-mail address among other items.

..and other little additional things. I like it much better than the previous versions.

NOTE: If you do download this version of MSN, which you can get here, my suggestion would be to keep your other version, as well. I say this because since it is a Beta version, and not a finalized one, there is the potential for errors to occur (I believe). ^_^

So, the real question here is, how many of you have this new, updated version of MSN Messenger? And if you do, how do you like it?

I have MSN 7 Beta.

Finally they put in the *nudge* (or *buzz* as Yahoo calls it) feature which gets the attention of the other person if they also have MSN 7. I like it way better than the older version I had.

Yeah. Not too many of my friends have 7.0 yet, so I can't Nudge 'em...=(.

Yes I believe 6.2 is the most recent next to 7.0. 4.0 Ria? hehe. Well, the way I see it, if it works and it's a functional chat room, that's good enough!

6.2 is good enough for now. I don't want to install a beta and screw things up .

7.0 has writing thing?

Seeing as I rarely use Messenger, it wouldn't be worth my d/l'ing it. (mIRC man, myself!)

I'm using 6.2 as well. Seems like the only all-new thing in 7 is "winks".

Version 6.x doesn't originally support handwriting, but there is a handwriting patch, which you can download from http://www.mess.be. Then anyone with version 6 and above will be able to receive your handwritten messages. I love it.
