Its the last two systems i and maybe many others would have expected the game to be released on!

The game is to be set in the Grail star system, which consists of three planets - which was usual for SEGA Megadrive Phantasy Star titles. The game is set, as usual, in the middle of a huge, never ending war, with characters also taking on similarities of older Phantasy Star titles, where you play as set characters instead of making your own, like PSO players are used to. The two characters unveiled at this time were Ewan Webber and Karen Ella.

All else thats known about the game is that it is set in a full 3D environment where players travel through constant levels battling monsters. To me at least, Universe looked pretty much like a next generation game, so for it to be released on the oldest console running does maybe ask you if this game will be anything you initially thought it would be... Well, we'll find out more on this at E3 i expect.

[UPDATE] We've now also got a copy of the Japanese Phantasy Star Universe advertisement used in the magazine. Click Here to see it.

Let me also add on top of this that the news comes from a Japanese MAGAZINE. Magazines are a very good source of information, especially in Japan, but they only state what they know as a company. I also do not know of where they got any of this information from, as i cannot find any comment from SEGA.

It could just be heavy rumour, but it could be current fact.

This news was also sparked from Mr Shoe's findings from this Forum Thread.
Yes I saw Mr. Shoe's thread and I can tell you as stupid as ST is they can't be THAT retarted. That would be committing complete suicide, instead of attempted suicide like they've done with their business decisions in the past.
I believe that PSU will be offline mostly with limited online content- similar to the Final Fantasy series on the PS2.

Blue Burst is getting an English release this spring 2005- including PSO version 4. I don't see why they would release and maintain 2 phantasy star online games.

I believe PSO will continue to be the main online franchise and PSU is going to be a "return to the roots" RPG (again similar to the FF series).

That being said, it would be cool if Sega could prove me wrong and I hope they do.
...............But Its Ps2 :| ST Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!
It does suck pretty much when you think about the amount of people who wanted it for GC.
Well, it looks good. I have a PC and a PS2 aswell as a GC, so Im pretty much set for getting this game, no matter what console it is on.

Unless its for XBox Tongue
What.......the......fuck...... (sorry)

PS2 and PC?! What about gamecube?! What about Nintendo 21?! :O
Does this mean that both GC and Xbox are ruled out and the game won't appear on them, or is it just made for PS2 and PC too?
There is still a possibility that the game could still be released on other consoles, its just PS2 and PC that its currently got a release for.

Look at Resident Evil 4 - Only previously announced for Gamecube when it also got an announced release for PS2 not that long ago... SEGA could do a Capcom on it...
it better be for GC or i'm going to hurt SOMEONE!!!(not really, but i still ticks me off)
