When making a new char with costume 8 or 9, is the colour of your mag dependent on Section ID at all, or just on clothing colour?

It's random from the normal colours.

Costumes 1-7 get a shade of that color, 8 and 9 get a random. It's independent of ID.

In PSO, the mags you find are gray or another grayish color, in PSO+, the mags you find are the same color as the costume of Player1.

Edit: There are also 4 colors, only costumes 8 and 9 can get. I don't know what they are though.

I just remember that in Dreamcast ver1 it was dependent on ID, but on Ver2, it was random.

On GC, it is also random . I wonder why they made all found mags grey. Then I'll just have to do the New-Character-Mag-donate cheat to get the colours I want.

The extra ones are supposedly cyan (light blue), brown, dark green (I want this) and pink (I want this).

I had a dark forest green one and didn't know it was at all special. 0.o Damn I was going to make a Rati out of one, I thought I just had to get a specific color green costume........ahhhhhh damn!

Good luck finding them. If you think it'd be better (if you have PSO+) you can change your character's costume to 8 or 9 for a while and do Normal Mines runs until you get the mags you want. Then just change it back afterward.

Yes, in Plus you do find colored mags, and they usually (not always) match your color. I believe if you're using 8 or 9, you can find randomly colored mags. I know because my RAmarl once picked up a dark green mag that will eventually become my HUmar's new mag.

I don't know about changing costume color though; when I changed my HUmar's color to green/first row, I went for a Mines run and I found a dark green mag in a box on the way. He has also found orange mags in the mountains of E2. Thus, it may or may not be completely random, or it may be determined by your original costume color. Not sure.
