What's best for a force to get into, the nuking techs, the single-enemy techs, or should forces become melee forces? What do you all think?
Ooh, my opinions get to go first this time, whee. Tongue

Okay, it really depends on what kind of force you are. I have seen a 100-leveled FOnewearl and a 50-leveled FOmar played by my offline friends (even took control of the FOnewearl briefly to pipe my RAmar's Secure Feet Big Grin). Personally I have a level 99 FOnewm and level 36 FOnewearl, and will eventually create a FOmar.

FOnewearl gets a boost on the simple techs, and she can take down enemies at ridiculously easy rates using them. My friend's FOnewearl carried a Summit Moon (which also helps simple techs) and a Foie Merge, and that character's Foie did damage in the 700s in the Temple (where I went to pipe the Secure Feet). Not bad. That's definitely one way of maximizing potential; focus on the simple techs and boost them as much as you can. Or, you can opt to boost all your techniques with the color merges; my FOnewearl's most often-used shield is a Red Merge, although I will probably buy some more Red Barriers when I get online. Either way, you'll never be able to melee decently with her, so don't even try.

FOmar is usually classified as the "melee force..." I haven't personally looked into it yet, but he must have more ATP or something; at any rate, people play melee forces usually by using all the support techs to give them decent damage rates and defenses (I've played online and offline with melee FOmars). However, you could also make a mind FOmar - not sure what the advantage of one is though (I have one friend with a FOmar that uses no weapons not even tech-boosting weapons; only techs).

About the FOnewm... he's the one I've spent the most time with so far, and I'll say this: he was given boosts on the gi and ra techs for a reason... but he was also given half-decent attacking stats for a reason. Get one thing straight: this guy is NOT a FOnewearl. If he had to melee, he could (although probably not in the absence of support techs). I've found that most of my tech-casting with him is along the lines of nuking crowds of grunt enemies again and again with Rafoie or Gizonde (with a Fire Scepter: Agni to boost his Rafoie, and sometimes he borrows my FOnewearl's Red Merge). When you're comfortable in a level, though, you can melee if you cast all the support techniques. I just wish he had better ATA; I don't really care about the ATP, but I wish I could use my TP-stealing weapons with at least some accuracy. :ermm:

As for the FOmarl, I don't have any experience with them at all. People say they're more support forces than anything else, and there's some truth to that (they do have double Resta range, IIRC). I've only played with a FOmarl once, offline, and it was four-player splitscreen so I was sorta busier watching my RAmarl. Tongue I recall that he'd put a Resta Merge on his FOmarl and he was using some weapon (I wanna say Striker of Chao, but I'm not sure) that also offered a Resta range boost. The result was 8x Resta range, in theory - although my non-PSO-playing friend who borrowed my HUnewearl kept leaving his Resta range for some reason (you should've seen my HUnewearl's mag synchro after that fiasco Tongue ).

When all's said and done, there is definitely a "best" way to play some characters, like the FOnewearl, but then again you don't always have to play the 100%-best way to have fun with your force, IMO. Perfection is overrated.
equipping a summit moon didnt seem to help much, I could do just as much damamge with my striker of chao.. as a fonewereal I tend to take to support first then I'll cast a gi techs or whatever applys
FOmar does 1.3x damage with Grants, Gifoie, Gibarta, and Gizonde. He has 1002 max ATP which is the highest of any Force. Double shifta/deband range helps too when in teams. If you use him with no weapon equipped to cast techs he is very fast (the higher the tech level the quicker he casts, same goes for FOnewm).
I gave my FOmar a level 200 mag, so for normal mode I merely nuked everything with GIfoie and Foie. Now I'm in hard mode, I've started to melee with my Mahu, using Grants and Megid (both at Lv15) for support, for instance, when I need to quickly take out that Hildebear or Grass Assassin. I use up far too much TP being a nuker at this level, although the Lv18 Foie with an Amplifier of Foie and Hildebear's Cane is impressive.
My FOney does 400 some odd damage perhit on Ult. Ruins with the mid-level techs. and a Sorccere's Cane equipped. But then I use my base techs for the bosses, which do around the same amount, or a lot more depending on whether or not I have merges equipped, the lower techs are for all intents and purposes useless. They are great on the bosses for the most part, with the vastly lower TP cost, and 30% (or is it 20%) boost to Foie, Barta, and Zonde, makes her a FOrce to be reconked with.

I haven't ever used a FOnewm.......can't speak for him.

FOmarls and FOmars I can. Both are decent meleers, FOmars make HUmars look like childs play in both stats and the variety of gameplay you can mix-up.
FOmarls are great as meleers only with a party I've discovered, they can't do much on their own, but with a RAcast or HUcast acting as meat shield they can get in and hit a few times. The sad thing about them is they literally have the worst animations for every wepon, excluding slicers, the Inferno Bazooka (Which I cannot use as of yet, but I've heard she fires it insanely fast), and Double Sabers, and of those she can only use the Double Saber and the S-Rank Twin. Rainbow Baton and Resta Merge are where she's best at.

FOmars have the best male animations of the saber, his excellent rod animation, and his 20% tech increases to all Gi- techs and Grants.
He can melee and survive on his own in the long haul of Ultimate. From what I've experienced, they take less time to level up from the FOmarl also.
On most boss fights, just to hit many many different parts, I use gozonde. Also, for me, the basic attack techs don't do better, and don't cost much less TP, so I just use the higher level ones.
Really, Well I use Gifoie and Gizonde most of the time and then Rabarta. My Sorccerer's Cane makes them and the basic techs do about the same damage.
I'd say single enemy for forest, but for anything else, good multi-enemy hitting techniques (I like Gizonde, Rafoie, and Rabarta). Melee on a FO is generally useless in my opnion. Plus I love FOnewms.
FOneys are the best FOs, however way you put it into trashing enemies. However,. it is quite hard to rely on just MST, which my eliminate the choice of a FOney... I have 2000 MST with the Hildebear's Cane and runs out of all my MST by Forest 2, I even use it's Foie every now and then to preserve MST and still I run out easily.
