Xbox sucks, eh? From that comment I assume you're a Nintendo fanboy then.

I dislike fanboys, I also dislike Microsoft for Windows XP, and I dislike Nintendo for having the most annoying and stubborn fanbase I've ever seen.

About the problem, everyone is having it but it's nothing major, when you first try and connect it will freeze up and you have to press start to return to the main menu, then just select the same character and try again and it should work, if it doesn't then try once more.

The problem is alot of people thing they can't actually sign on, you just have to keep trying until you can.
