Is it a self-portrait?

Yes. I tried to make it look like myself. I'm sure somebody will recognize who I used as the base for my avatar though. I took one picture, adjusted a few details, changed the colours appropriately and BAM you have my avatar (changed the head-gear colour to red as well. It's just harder to notice.)
