Complaining bout them doesn't do anything... Thats why I started the Anti-Snarf.. it at least shows some action done... not very much however...

Sometimes we need hackers to help us find out new things in games.. they choose to hack, as you choose nbot to hack.. so your question... is pointless...

Hackers hack for many reasons. Too learn about the inner workings of something. To make themselves more knowledgable, or even for the simple reason of because they can. Not all hackers ruin the game. Back when I played, I had different phases. I would help people, sometimes I would FSOD or corrupt people. I did the second one more often. I don't really feel bad for anything I did, afterall it's just a game. Nothing to kill yourself over. As some of the staff members have said, I am a "Dickwad" or something to that extent.Yeah, I fsoded people, I corrupted people. It's a game. A big reason PSO gets hacked is because the people doing it know they won't get into any trouble. Sega doesn't care, and Sonic Team doesn't care. If you could commit a "crime" and get away with it, would you? Some people would, others will just complain about it asking why and trying to get them to stop. You can't stop them unless the people who made the game cared, or if you are able to stop them with hacking. Fight fire with fire, not fire with bitching.

*edit* I didn't answer why some hackers ruin games. It's mostly because we know we can, and that we won't get caught. Sometimes they just have it out for a few people. Again though, as other people said, complaining won't do anything. Also, hackers for the most part aren't gonna be swayed by words and begging. It will just make them do it more because they know it will upset people. Thats why I did when I played PSO. Mods or a staff member, this should be locked. Last thing I want is a flame war. Oh and Double Edge, if it's you who locks this, don't think I'm trying to get attention, I'm just being honest.

Legato has a point-Not all hackers pay $9 to ruin PSO. and he is right where he says people do things when they know they will not be caught. if ther is no punishment then what is there to stop them.if they can actually hack though then it wouldnt matter if you could corrupt them-they would jsut come back and corrupt you. actually that might be kinda fun for a little while.

It is fun. I loved basically "controlling" the players who were afraid of FSOD or corruption. Funny thing, when I first got into hacking I wanted to stop FSOD, but power corrupts you that way. LoL Irony at it's finest. I should've started a clan when I played. I would've had a lot of followers. -_- Oh well.

There just needs to be one sticky.. that way we won't have tons of these threads started by n00bs, no offense, and just have one... cuz its really irratating how many of these things are stated and they're all about the same thing and all eventually locked...

Yeah, but it will probably get locked. These should all just be deleted because they take up space on the forums. Threads like this can't survive as a sticky because you have your Anti all hacking people. The people who side with the ones who have a better arguement, and then you have the hackers. Too many flame wars would break out over opinion and fact. I'd like to make a sticked topic on "why" some hackers do what they do. Then it could be stickied and locked and a rule could be made so that question isn't asked anymore.

I know, that I try to not get into flame wars and avoid all topics dealing with hacking.. but you know.. sometimes you just gotta let people know that threads like these don't help anything...
I, myself don't hate hackers... just their creations and their hungriness for power...
But not all hackers are the same... taht must always be remembered...
