Full Version: I need help in ultimate caves...

I finally got my RAmar to ultimate, and after I got everything I wanted from the forest, I moved on to my caves hunt. Now, I can last in the caves, thanks to my Frozen Shooter, but I'm having trouble with the big groups of enemys in addicting food and other quests. I'm trying to level up and find a Silence Claw, Stag Cultery and a Red Scorpio. I usually die from the big groups or I have to run in, shoot 1 monster, run out, run back in, shoot and run out and so on. Does anyone have any tips for killing enemys better? Also, should I grind my Red Handgun with 0/5/0/5? I know the percents aren't the greatest and I could get another one but I got sick of TFiY. So should I grind it or save my grinders for the Red Scorpio, or use them on my Red Handgun?
Use Shots for crowds, level up for hard areas. You'll probably get plenty of grinders, grind the heck out of anything you use frequently.
Especially since the Red Handgun is the strongest ATP-wise of all Handguns when you grind it to +50. You can worry about getting a better one later.

With the shot: try to see if you can do a N-H-H combo and get a good number of hits. If you can do that well enough, then you can manage to bounce enemies backward enough that they won't be able to make much, if any, progress towards you. If they get to close, then just run a way a bit and fire again. This works well on large groups too because the enemies tend to bump into each other when you knock them back and then it makes it harder for them to move.

Get that Scorpio as soon as you can too. That ought to help some.
Ok, thanks. I wasn't useing the Shot because it deals like, no damage but I'll try it now. Also, what quest has the most slimes to pipe? I'm using plus so I'm not sure if the piping through doors trick will work.
You realize that RAmar can't equip Silence Claw, right? Tongue Unforunately, there's a severe lack of decent ranger melee weapons for Purplenum... I'd advise getting at least one other character into Ultimate (perhaps your Yellowboze, as they find a wider variety of the common weapons and also Red Saber in the forest).

I've never heard of the "piping through doors trick," but there are 2 slimes (possible 8 slimes) in Addicting Food, 2 rooms after the waterfall room. Leave your pipe behind the door... run in, rabarta every time one pops up (you don't want to have them attack each other), run away fast, use the healing ring in the east room when you run out of TP.

When you get to ruins, hunt yourself a Spread Needle from Merlans... those rule. Tongue A decent (yet not TOO rare) ranger arsenal includes the FS which you have, a Spread Needle (or perhaps a high-hit shot with a good special), and a mechgun such as Red Mechs (also available to you in Ruins). Red Handgun is a good power gun, too, although I'd give preference toward something RA-only for uniqueness.

In your sig you mention a gungnir... it's not a bad idea to carry something like this, especially if it has hit%. As a soloing ranger you won't have much success with a shot for long (especially if you have no God or Devil/Battle), so unless you have a Spread (or srank) Needle you may want to switch to your partisan. Keep s/d on at all times and keep hitting them with the partisan... that's what got my RAmar through VH Ruins, IIRC (the first time, anyway).

For comparison, my RAmar uses:
Yasminkov 3000R +60 10/0/25/0/0 (I didn't tek it so don't blame me for the 10%. trying to replace this with a good srank rifle)
Frozen Shooter +9 0/15/0/0/35 (my most cherished 10-star piping rare Tongue)
God Hand +30 10/0/0/0/0 (got from SoaB so couldn't tek up)
Spread Needle +40 15/0/0/0/0
Yasminkov 9000M +10 0/0/0/0/35
Twin Blaze 0/0/0/0/0 (haven't grinded this one yet)
Red Scorpio +25 0/0/0/0/0 (used to be 50 but it got FSODed and my backup-dupe only had 25... so I owe myself 25 grinders Tongue)
Brightness Circle, God/Power, God/Luck, Hero/Ability, God/Battle
Secure Feet
Pushan 20/120/46/24 (I think... funny, I can't remember right now, brainfreeze Tongue)

I think it still does work, so Redria Letter of Lionel for Lavis all the way.
Thanks Net-Nomad, and I'm hunting the Silence claw just for fun, if I use it it'll be with one of my lower-level characters. And my Gungir has 20% Hit, which is the main reason I carry it with me. I'm going to get a Spread Needle as fast as I can, and where can I find a Devil/Battle?
Yellowboze, VH, Mines, Dubchic, 1/213.

To hunt Dubchic easily:
- start the quest "Dr. Osto's Reasearch"
- first room has 4 Gilchic
- turn left, traps in hallway
- long room, beat a Ramar NPC at end of it
- small room
- big room, 7 Dubchics, go straight for the switch, don't bother attacking the Dubchics themselves
- search the ground for the drop
- telepipe back and repeat

Your Fonewm is only level 20 though.... get workin'! Big Grin
Yea, I'm having some problems with my FOnewm, as I use him as a pure casting Force, but his TP isn't high enough to be bale to do nothing but cast yet, so I have me to melee with him which sucks because of his low defense, but I'll find a way past that somehow.
