Well i dled xoftspy today, and well I thought it was a joke.
It found some stuff on my computer that werent there before with adaware or spybot.
So I typed this stuff in on google, symantec was first to tell how to get rid of it. I followed the procedures and what do ya know.... I found nothing in the registry that had to do anything with what xoftspy found.
So yeah the program sucks. So i think i rather stick with adware and spybot, as they do there job fine.
So do i reccommend xoftspy...um no, this program can burn in hell along with panda software.
excuse me but, what does this have to do with pso?!
dun kno lol. I forgot where to post it as I was in a rush to get a comp fixed. erm yeah if a mod could move this lol. I believe to the void or general chat???
But the reason why i made this post is to see if someone said was true bout this program. And whoever has this i hope u have gl with it, cause ur gonna need it.
xoftspy is fine. i mean sure, it has put 2 or 3 extra viruses in them, but its not hard just to ignore them when you're sure they dont exist. thats what i do. i mean, i got my viruses from over 2000 to 50 so far. i think thats pretty dammed good by anyones standards.
When I updated to the latest definitons, it found 6 more bugs. I checked the registry again, and they werent there. This program to me is not reliable.
Did you try to go to the exact place that xoftspy placed them?

I completely agree with you. You know that there's more than one Software key, right? Not everything is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
And rofl, Panda's the best AV there is. (Although no AV is brilliant, imo.)
Serpent, did u have to dl any files from panda to activate ur software or something?
And i kno there is more then just HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, went to a couple of sites, told me how to get rid of what xoftspy found. They all said the same place and what not, it wasnt there....
I have been working with computers soon to be 7 years now.
just search the whole computer, and if it is something like 'software\{6570b52-92h54-', just search for '{6570' and then you can manually check any close matches. thats what i do and it seems to work.
Yes i kno how to use the search engine lol. I'm just saying really, that this program cant be trusted basically. It finds stuff that arent there at all. especially when adaware and spybot have already got rid of em.
O and not to mention it found the same stuff again after reboot and after i told xoftspy to clean it :alien: .
afta that i rebooted again. Ran adware and spybot, they found nothing. but ran xoftspy again, wow..looky looky it found the same imaginary stuff again :bandit: .
So yeah its gone off my computer, o yeah and when I went to see if this program starts up while the comp boots. I looked in my msconfig, and found only 6 start up items in the startup section. When there was 24 of them.... ( yes i know how to turn them off, and which i can turn off) and the other 18, were actually the ones i needed (I mean gone gone, like not even on the list ne more gone lol). some were for norton, my firewall, oooo and my adobe photoshop 7 startup kit (this makes it so photoshop loads x3 times faster than normal). So im not to pleased with xoft, u peeps can keep using it though, whatever really floats ya boat i guess.
