Well If the whole Earth was like new Orleans than we would have 3 options:
1. have our own Pioneers
2. Start making homes like the Jetsons
3. Just acept the end and go on with the rest of life however short it is

Ok ok, it depends what monsters you mean. *Ahem* De Rol Le was created by that scientist guy, which started infecting the native animals who got agressive (as seen in the forest) and eventually mutated (as seen in the caves). The people of Pioneer 1 created the robots in the mines, which went wrong due to a computer virus. I think that the ruins monsters are the people of Pioneer 1 though, since people keep getting possessed etc in the ruins, and that everyone is mysteriously missing.
