I had a thought this morning... (Sorry to all you maths haters out there.)

is -1 a prime number. a prime number has got two factors itself and 1. Therefore -1 has 1 and -1. Therefore is -1 a prime number.
Interesting point, but it's not.

A prime number has to be positive, by definition, hence -1 is not a prime number.

If you think that -1 is a negative prime number, then the answer is also "no", because a negative prime number is defined to have 4 different factors: 1, -1, itself and negative itself.
what... that makes my head hurt...
also... find the square of ANY NEGATIVE number... lol
Hmmmm... You've got a point but i thought you had to have a whole number.
you do... i was just seeing if you knew...
The square of any negative number is a positive number. The negative number needs not be a whole number.

e.g. (-2)^2 = 4 and
(-0.2)^2 = 0.04

The square root of a negative number is imaginary. Remember this, children Big Grin.

e.g. (-4)^0.5 = 2i

Edit: forgot to add example.
nope... try and find the root of negative 1... even calculators cant do that cos it goes from infinity to negative infinity...
Hehe, your calculator sucks.
...
I mean...
No, it doesn't go from infinity to negative infinity.
The answer to your question is i.
I haven't done maths in a while, so i can't really remember much about it, but i'm pretty sure that aint what i is...
*Cries, because nobody believes her*.

Ask a FOmar then. I'm sure he'll tell you it's true. Him with so much MST and all, well, third highest. Whatever ... Now I shall stop spamming and leave this thread.

*Ryuker!*
