I have a GC and PSO but haven't taken it online yet. I was wondering...is there an adapter that would let me plug my GC directly into the slot in my wall where my PCs internet cable is plugged into? In other words...Do i have to run my connection through a PC.

PCI slot? I bought the Xbox link up cable mentioned earlier in this thread, and I'm linking it to from my GC's BBA directly to my PC's LAN port. Sharing has been enabled on my Wanadoo connection, but for some reason my Local Area Connection (the network) is coming up as unplugged, always.
So, I'm going to try another cable. I'll go into Dixons and ask for a cross-link cable.
Hehe, well, the only other support i can really offer now comes on christmas day or the day or two after really when i'm at home and retry setting it all up again myself... which i can't say i'm looking forward too really! :S

The problem is most definitely with my PC, or the cable.
I'll letcha know if there's any developments. If not, guess I'm going to have to give in to the 56k modem, pay-as-you-go way of playing...

Hey guess what! I bought an RJ45 crosslink network cable from the dreaded bay of E, and I can now get online via my BBA and network sharing PERFECTLY!

It was the cable after all - and man, I'm SO happy as I renewed my HL for 3 months lol!
Anyway, that Xbox link up cable was definitely the wrong cable -> for my laptop anyway!
Wierd... but oh well, i'm still VERY happy you're now able to ICS to play Phantasy Star Online, Online perfectly! Yay! You'll have to let me know when you're online next time in the next week or so
how do you get GC online without a pc?
Hi, sorry I wasn't around when this was originally posted might have saved some hassles! With a male/male ethernet cable you have to connect to the internet via the modem not the PC.
Anyway, you've discovered that the cross-over cable sorts the problem.
