..how does duping wreck the game?
Now I know I'm gonna get jumped on, but you seem like smart, patient people, so I'll speak my lines. What exactly is so bad about duping, when it's simply a copy of a normally found item? Sure, they might not have earned it, and it makes you feel bad, but how's it wrong? I've heard some people say, "oh, well you know how much it ruins games when somebody with a really good item comes in and kills things in one hit". But if they'd found that item normally, would that make them any worse? I think it's not duping that's bad, it's people hogging EXP or playing with weaker characters that's bad.
On top of that, duping has positives (maybe not always the reason, but common enough) -
- You want to give another character an item, but want one for the first character too. (Like a Booma's claw for example. Say both your HUcast and HUmar want it.)
- They can help a friend recover a character in case he's corrupted (like twinking, but with no character of his own)
- Scape Dolls are unnaturally uncommon, until the point where they don't really help you (Ultimate). Materials are also a pain in the *ss to collect, especially TP materials.
- If you're worried about goofing up a mag, you can save a copy just in case.
- You can have backups in case of FSOD
Duping is only good in case of FSOD.Nothing more.
How would you like to find out you traded a legit item like an Agito 1975,and then find out the item you received was a dupe?
To know that your item was aquired with work and the item you receive was just duped?
And about the people hogging the EXP,most of them use duped Photon Spheres or Multi-Equip.But if someone keeps hoging the EXP with tottally LEGIT items,it's fine,altough it's annoying,but...

Well, that's your opinion. I listed what, in the majority opinion, are good uses.

I really don't care how they got it. Honestly, for all I care they could've gotten an item that was a dupe of a dupe to the infinite power, I still wouldn't care. I asked how it disrupts gameplay, not how angry you get over a silly item.
And how can you prove that only people who multi-equip are exp hogs? You don't even know what Photon Spheres are! (Hint: They're special items that you get a Gallon's Shop) And how is somebody going to prove to you that their items are legit? You'd probably get mad anyway.

Here we go, I agree with Thesord that duping is good only for FSOD. But take for example you have gotten yourself a err...oh yes! A Orotiagito, and someone is wanting to trade a Double Cannon for it. You trade, and find that the Double Cannon is duped. Wouldn't that piss you off?
Sometimes duping just annoying but most of the time it makes people go ballistic. I remember this guy who asked about how to dupe....:eek: Like anyoned tell him that...
Man, so far I'm doing a great job with a totally legit character.
messing up gameplay? only becuz i find peeps with more god/powers to trade then generol/powers. do you know why? becuz peeps didnt dupe norms only rares. now i walk into a game and some1s guna say OMG ITS A LEGIT _____, NOW I CAN GET RID OF MY DUPE VR. rather then OMG ITS AN _____ IV HERD THESE WHER SO RARE! if you dont get this point ill brake it into simpol terms, dupeing at one levl is acseptabol(bad but acseptabol) but then giveing it to some one els is horaboul. o yes and did i menshen st can sue you for dupeing? reed the contract on the opening screen.

I know what P. Spheres are,duh!
And people who use multi-equip usually are EXP hoggers,ever see a HUcast do around 1000 per hit with mechs?(No Shifta/Deband.And he wasn't on a very high level).
AND how would you expect to see HUmars at level 100 or so doing around 1000?It's multi-equip and mass dupe of P.spheres.(Incase you don't know,they're used to raise a percent of a wep by 30.)

Issac thats exactly what I think.
It disrupts the whole eco-system of PSO.
One person finds a rare item that is hard to come across and then they dupe it each time they dupe it and give it to someone else they will aswell until the most rarest weapon in the game is as common as the hair on my head.
So evreytime a person dupes it lowers the rareity of the weapon.

I never once said that multi-equippers weren't EXP-hogs, just that not all EXP hogs are multi-equippers. For example, a HUmar with a Meteor Cudgel - relatively legit item, not mass duped, and 3 Ogre Powers, walks into a game with people 2 levels lower and starts having a go at the monsters. That's being an EXP hog too.
Also, I didn't think people actually duped photon spheres to add percents. Most n00bs don't understand the percent screen, let alone see it. Yes, I have heard of the East and West Tower quests.

And btw the positive aspect of duping that you stated on the first post is okay,as long as you don't go giving/trading rares that are duped.
Tricky one this is... Legit VS Duping VS FSOD... Its hard to weigh up, but heres how i stand on it -
I feel that you will have more fun and will appreciate rare items and hard work better if you play legitimately. Use dupes if you wish, but i personally would disagree with using them, its not fair to be doing 2000 Damage with a duped BKB with 300% Dark, when the rest of your team is playing fair, it gives you an unfair advantage and probably means you will get all the Experience aswell. I know what a pain in the arse FSOD and loosing items is, its happened to all of us... i lost my Sato the other day so i've had to remake it. I've never had full corruption however... So i cannot really comment on what its like loosing everything you own.
I know that some people have had full corrupts like 3-4 times and just get so fed up of loosing all their kit, they resort to using dupes, cause it doesnt matter if it gets lost in FSOD right? But its just as easy to use dupes and say " Oh, i've had tonnes of Corruptions, i cant be arsed to loose anything more... " and be lying out your arse, for all anyone knows you are just a plain cheat! However, if you really have had full corruptions then im sorry for you...
I reckon basically if you're in a game where people are playing legit and you are using dupes, you should leave and play with others leaving dupes so its all fair if you get me ?
Like i said this is a really really tricky subject to comment on, but on the whole, im generally against duping...
