Wasn't quite sure where to put this, so I'll put it here.
Today seemed like a great day, I had been left totally alone in the house, everyone's gone out somewhere. Naturally, playing PSO totally uninterrupted in the living room as opposed the basement seemed like a good idea.
I bring up the gamecube, plug it in, turn it on, and it turns out there's no disc in it, which is weird, as I left the PSO disc in there last night. I went down, got it, put it in, still said there was no disc.
This frustrated me, as I thought "Dammit, the GC needs to be cleaned again" (This happened a few weeks ago, just needed to clear up the dust). I went for the vaccuum, then thought maybe I should try some other discs....So I brought up a few more games...they all worked...
Now, my brother had 2 friends sleep over last night, and I didn't wake up until 10:30.
Conclusion: MY PSO DISC IS F***ING BROKEN! There are 4 suspects, and by 9pm today only 3 of them are gonna remain -.-;
I don't know why but everytime i consider a whole day of uninterrupted PSO, something also goes wrong, and i only get about 1hr if i'm lucky! Sadly it seems as if your little friends have taken the luxury of PSO totally away from you.
The Solution? Grab your Gamecube by the handle, and smash it over their heads, then charge them for a new Gamecube, copy of Phantasy Star Online, and some handling charges.
In the meantime sorry to hear of your loss bud. Get Well Soon ^_^
Thanks Lee, I was gonna do something along the lines of that.
But I have good news! After some VERY extensive cleaning (And I mean VERY... I used up an entire bottle of CD cleaning solution, 2 cloths, as well as the CD cleaning kit, and almost an hour of time) My PSO disc loaded. I'm still terrified to play the thing, as I can smell the corruption, but at the very least, the loading screen works.
However, I'm probably still going to knock their brains out and tell them to get me a new disc >< The only way this could get worse was if it only worked long enough to corrupt my characters.
If you're worried about the disc bring it to some place that has a commercial disc cleaners they work great at removing scratches. Usually a movie store will have them.

You can buy those kits, can't you?

You can but they arent nearly as good as the higher end disc cleaners.
I see no point in doing that. The only problem (that I know of now) is that the disc sometimes doesn't feel like loading and the GC says there's no disc << Other than that it works fine.
But I'm still probably gonna get a new disc, the 'artistic design' in scratches on the bottom of that disc worry me, and the disc is probably beyond repair. So, I'll play on Kyoneru for awhile, only thing to lose there are my recently farmed mags, and a few days of time. Then I'll get a new disc.
i hate corruption, it happened twice to me, once being a memory card which was working perfectly fine. turned it off went to get lunch an hour later the card was corrupted.
the other corruption i have had is with my xbox, it was fine couple of weeks ago, but now it wont read a damn thing be it: CD, Game, DVD, not even a disk cleaner
tis an annoying thing corruption

this is the main reason because i have 2 pso copies and 1 original, the copis work perfectly but i can't go online, the original only works well when the dc is cool, after 4/5 minutes of playing, if i put the original, then i can forget playing sice it wont recognize the cd, or in the midle of loadings it will go to the dc menu.
you can try and remove the scratches or then buy a new pso disk, but first try to remove the scratches.

I wouldnt be so sure about that, I rented a game and it was scratched to hell and it didnt even work. I brought it back to the rental shop and they put it in their disc cleaner and it came out without any scratches. It's worth a try, it'd be cheaper to do that than to buy a new copy.
