What mistake?
Yeah I might import The japanese version if it has a perfect english option and can also use a credit card.
My card corrupted alot without doing nothin' to! I brought a new memory card and it still bloody currupts!
Mabye you do did somethin' to it without realisin'?

I feel sorry for anyone who's game has corupted.
I have a very simple formula for that:
Save alternately on two different memory cards.
I don't do it, 'cause i've only got one. So I'm not sure if it would work.
But i guess people would merge the saves-

You can't have a character and copy it to the 2nd mem. card.

Alright I didnt read any post but here is a non risky way to not lose anything
It works 99.9% of the time
YOU MUST NOT HAVE PLAYED YOUR CHARACTER AT ALL THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE AFTER YOU GET THE ALL ITEM AND CHARACTER DATA CLOSING MESSAGE!!!
Try online mode but disconnect your cable so you wont be able to connect online. Now after that try to go online with your character again and the cable is connected.
Then there you go nothing is lost!
U cant bring a character file to another memory card, or at least thats what I know of.
