I'm aware the news is almost 2 weeks old now, but for those that aren't aware, seems as if we're going to have to wait a little longer to get our hands on PSO2

Phantasy Star Online 2, Sonic Team's online action-RPG which launched for Windows PCs in Japan last July, has been delayed in North America, publisher Sega told Polygon today.
The game never received a formal release date in North America, only being targeted for an "early 2013" release. Considering we're nearly out of the first quarter of the year with no word on the title's release plans, it seemed unlikely that the game would hit that goal, despite being playable last year at PAX Prime.
"Originally slated for an early 2013 launch, Sega can officially confirm that PS02 has been delayed," a Sega spokesperson told Polygon. "We don't have any specifics but will update everyone as soon as there are more details to share."
The title was also ported to Japanese PS Vitas in February of this year.
Bad times.

When they release it, it'll just fail-cascade on itself in 6 months anyway. Without any news on WHY its delayed it could be almost anything. Its a shame, really, its an amazing game and its just getting better

I can imagine, especially since most of the people who are interested in playing it will have been playing the Japanese version with an English patch for the last year or more!

sega should tell us something the wait is so long. i might give up waiting and join pso2 jp. i have an account i just need to DL and install/update.That will take awhile isn't the game like 8-10gb without updates?

I've no idea how big it actually is but I wouldn't be surprised really!
It has been stupidly long since SEGA have actually said ANYTHING about it other than this... I don't really know how they're expecting to build up any hype for this game if they're not saying anything about it!! :S

Perhaps SEGA are just underestimating the size of the Western market for this game. Also, didn't they have a weird/bad experience with European / North American players a while back? Hacks or something? It would be a shame if incidents like that are affecting their opinion of Western PSO players in general.

Well that is true. They always seem to have issues with Western players making hacks or playing with the game in ways they shouldn't be... but in the same vein Western players have found a way around to play the JP version of PSO2 because of SEGA's delay to a Western release! Swings and roundabouts I guess lol

From what i've been reading, alot of the exploiting and hacking is done by eastern players mostly, RMTing being a major part of this aswell. Westerners just get bad press because of the current.... environment of the game (Being basically guests on a server technically we shouldn't be on after all)
With sakai stating pso2 Ep2 is 'almost finished' and (my guess) due for release around august and not even a hint of pso2 na/eu alpha testing. We already have the same issue we had with PSU

Because, if you are to believe the current rumours, SoA have their hands tied up with SoJ.
With a new pc bundle due for release in 3-5 weeks (including codes for 'new' weapon catagorys) we can only assume ep2 will release aswell
