The Theory of the World - Anti Hacker - 09-02-2007 Teh EkwEE Wrote:You're visualizing the black hole as invisible, but they aren't....They're black. If one passed infront of a telescope that was focused on a cluster of stars...you would see the bending light on the event horizon, and then literally, a black hole. As if someone cut out a hole in the sky, and that hole was black. =P Ahhh touché! This is very true. Also, does a black hole look the same from every angle? I heard that whichever angle you observe a black hole from, it always looks like a hole. So you can't sort of view one side on. Makes sense, because as I said earlier, it's not actually a hole. It's more of a spherical dense-ness. Little Killer Wrote:But still, wouldn't that be a good move to make? Well, no. Our planet is immune to the effects of solar winds most of the time, because of its' magnetic field(s). These fields reflect the charged particles, which make up the stellar winds (or solar winds if you want to be more specific to our sun). Occasionally the solar winds will actually be stronger than usual, and will distort our ittle planets magnetic field! This is the cause of the aurora and geomagnetic storms (which actually wipe out computer systems temporarily). So, whilst these winds are powerful, they're not an ideal power source being unpredictable, and actually damaging to human technology! So if you could find a mechanism to "harness" the power of these winds and that also would not be wiped out by the very energy it was attempting to harness, then you might have something. But even so, it would only work in certain areas of our planet and not all of the time either! So, you may want to think about placing these devices outside of our atmosphere. But then, how the heck do you get the energy back here? Okay so you fire them up there on rockets, and then they fall back down with the collected energy. Problem now is, the energy taken to get into orbit, or to escape orbit, it vastly surpasses the energy you would gather... See where this is going? The Theory of the World - Faulkie - 10-02-2007 It's another of those things that seem to work in theory but in practice would never, EVER work. Like in Physics, we were doing about nuclear decomposition and whatnot, and I figured: "Hey, why don't we just put together a load protons and neutrons and create gold atoms?" Yeah... turns out it would cost a RIDICULOUS amount of money and would just generally not be a good thing to do. So much for my "master plan".
The Theory of the World - Little Killer - 10-02-2007 WHY GOLD? . . . actually, that would pay for the technology, but then everyone would catch on, and it would result in wars. . . What do you guys think of this song by Madona? The catholic church was so pissed after watching this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icrUkBaSefs The Theory of the World - Anti Hacker - 10-02-2007 I just hate pop music. Get it the hell away from me... Faaaster! Not fast enough! And also, Faulkie, atoms as well as having different properties have different layouts! If an atom has the same amount of protons etc as another atom, if it has a different build up it may have completely different properties! So, how would you make sure every atom had the exact layout AND properties that you needed? ![]() Atomic Tweezers FTW!
The Theory of the World - Little Killer - 10-02-2007 . . . OK. Just don't listen to it. *sees Anti slowly back away* Sorry it is "evil". I just wanted you to get the MEANING of it. . . you don't have to like it. ![]() Wow, Anti. You really like to snap at people! That is true that atoms have different properties and stuff. I still have much to learn about those.
The Theory of the World - Faulkie - 13-02-2007 Haha, yet another flaw in my plan. Yeahhh I knew it wouldn't work.
The Theory of the World - Little Killer - 14-02-2007 I think coffee is weird. I hate coffee, but I was so thirsty and that was all there was at the bank, so I tried it. . . AND MAN AM I HYPER!! WOOOOOOO! Coffee is a crime to society. Causes too many problems.Atoms. They are in plasma. Ions are charged. Ions are in plasma. Why don't we use plasma as a power source? The Theory of the World - Teh EkwEE - 14-02-2007 No, coffee causes productivity and efficiency. If we didn't have coffee everything would fall into ruin instead of just most things. You should have learned about the nature and structure of atomic masses and particles a few years ago Little Killer. I'd hate to live in your school district. You're a Sophmore/Freshman and you should have learned these things in 8th grade like everyone else. =/ Now you wonder why everyone hates America. The Theory of the World - Anti Hacker - 14-02-2007 I don't get why people don't just use magnetic generators. You could place repulsing magnets in a generator and as part of a turbine to push the turbine through another magnetic field thus generating some electricity. I mean, it just seemed such an obvious thing to do to me. Magnets are clean energy, and hardly ever need replacement. And even when they do need replacing what's left isn't toxic. Oh and by the way, it wouldn't be electro magnets pushing the turbine through the magnetic field, because that would result in them needing to be powered and a loss of energy. Conventional magnets would be used except for the very conversion system of the turbine. And I think you'll find almost any turbine pushes itself through some kind of magnetic field. See, the future of energy is under our feet as part of THIS planet, not somewhere mystically up in space. The Theory of the World - Little Killer - 14-02-2007 Teh EkwEE Wrote:Again child, don't post if you don't have something to add and stop smoking weed. The fact that you say you don't smoke it makes it all the worse. Stop acting like a kid and post something that most of us won't just skip by. Hmmm. I recall someone saying this. . . I wonder who that could be. . . Hmmm. I'll let you decide. :devious: *back to Anti* Yea. They seem simple enough. They are also very clean. And they would be cheaper. . . Yes. We should use our magnetic field more. . . but we must also protect it, since it protects us from space. And just magnets would be OK too. I don't see flaws, but I'm also young. *looks at wonderful sig*
