Help connecting with Episode III - fasteddie - 19-03-2004 Hi all. I've just got the US version and wondered if anyone could give me some help getting online. Sorry if this explained elsewhere, but I couldn't find anything. Thanks. Help connecting with Episode III - decswxaqz - 19-03-2004 What's your problem? What setup are you using? Modem or BBA? If BBA, are you using a router/switch or Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)? What's your ISP? (Be right back. Getting some food.) Help connecting with Episode III - fasteddie - 19-03-2004 I've got a BBA and I'm on NTL. I normaly just plug directly into the modem with the GC and xbox live. I've not tried setting it up for Ep 3 yet. I'm a bit confused about the HL and what not. I take it I can't use my Ep 1&2 HL with US import of Ep. Any tips or info would be great. Thanks for the reply. Help connecting with Episode III - decswxaqz - 19-03-2004 Well, you should just be able to use the same settings as you had for Ep1&2, unless you don't have ep1&2 on GC. It's not easy to get it working with a direct connection to an NTL box. I know. I originally had mine set up this way. If you insist on a direct connection this should work. (Before we start, have you just tried going to settings and setting everything to automatic? Didn't work for me) PC 1) goto START, then RUN 2) type winipcfg and press ENTER 3) Select the USB adaptor or your network card you use to get on the net 4) Click more info 5) Write down the IP address of the card, subnet mask (should be 255.255.255.0), the default gateway, and the DNS servers (click the little box with ... next to it to find the secondary DNS server) GC 1) Goto setting and network options 2) Manually enter the information you got from the PC. It should be entered in roughly the same order. IP, Subnet mask etc. Can't remember fully. 3) Save and switch the GC AND the NTL box off 4) Swap cables so the GC is connected to the NTL box 5) Turn the NTL box on and wait for a few minutes (if it's a set-top box, wait for the green light) 6) Turn the GC and try to go online If that doesn't work then switch the NTL box off again and you MUST wait for a few minutes. Leave the GC on. Turn the NTL box on after a few minutes and wait for the green light. Try connecting again. This worked for me, but was a lot of hassle. The best option is to spend about £15 and get a network card and cable. This way you can go online with the PC and GC at the same time. The PC must be on though if you want to get online with PSO. Help connecting with Episode III - fasteddie - 19-03-2004 Thanks for that. I shall give it a go. But I've not been on for a few days so maybe they have =/. Actually luke, if its the same region version (i.e. US, UK, JP) I went to go online (got ep III last night) and it checked all my info because my online information for I & II was on the same card as ep III, all I had to do was to enter that password i made before i got online on I & II. Help connecting with Episode III - decswxaqz - 28-03-2004 Yes. Obviously if it's the same version, you only need to enter your Ep 1&2 license info. But as this was the JP version for importers, and most people can't read Japanese, I made this guide to help them. I'm going to unsticky this since people no longer have to import the Japanese version, and if it gets lost to time, so be it. |
