For the most part, therapists are useless. I'd prefer to speak to somebody I know than some unknown person. Trust me, I have experience in this.
Regardless, you are, and will be facing a very tough battle. First you need to prepare yourself for it; you need to be calm, and unbending. Emotions at this point could cause irreparable damage to what you strive to achieve.
Don't give up.
