Proms aint really a big deal here in UK. I think my upper school prom was cancelled cause no-one wanted to go... i couldnt be arsed to sort a suit and stuff out anyway ( Although i would make a suit look damn good ^^ ) So i went with everyone to the pub for the day instead ;D
