Yes, but one weakness card will undo all that hard work, where it would just reduce zeles ap by 2.

True, and tp def works too. But every card has it weaknesses. Still, tp def and weakness doesn't lower the boost by assists . Ex: zoa +grow garden, defend with weakness, still do 2 damage. And now that i think about it, grow guard can work well too with zoa and zele (High hp, can last for a while)

yeah, i love to use HP attack with my zele, for 5pts i can do 19 damage to everything in a circle round it, or HP attack & punch to do 15 damage to every item.
