I think thats it, im following along the lines of other merges. how do u get sange and yasha - Omar - 04-10-2004 mimas Wrote:I was merely stating that Kefka actually rounds his drop-rates to the smaller fraction, which in some cases is mathematically incorrect but I digress...Who is the pedantic one again...? My advice is to forget about hunting for Yasha as it will make you cry Go for an Asuka with hit if you really must use paired swords. They are quite a bit weaker than Sange & Yasha, but much much easier to hunt
how do u get sange and yasha - Hrith - 04-10-2004 Actually heyf00l is the one that made the mistakes, the drop rate for an 11 star item on a monster with a 35% drop rate is 1/28808 and not 1/28807. When talking to him, heyf00l admitted that it was a mistake, albeit a minor one, especially considering his good job on the charts, because he calculated the rates "mathematically" as you put it. So when a rate was X.1 to X.4, he would round it down, and if it was from X.5 to X.9, he would round it up. And in the first case, rounding down was his mistake, because that particluar case was not to be handled "mathematically". I've noticed that you're better than me as far as maths are concerned, so you will understand without a problem. I'll take the drop rate for an 11 star item (rarity 105) from a rare monster for an example, since it is the biggest mistake he made. His chart says the drop is 1/21, because the drop is actually 1/21.3, and therefore he rounded it down, and this is a mistake, because 21.3 is bigger than 21 which means that you need on average to kill more than 21 of that rare monster to get the rare to drop, and since you cannot have one third of a monster, the average is 1/22, that's the good answer PSO-wise. I agree this is a very minor mistake, knowing it's 28808 instead of 28807 won't change much. But there are two drops that I dislike seeing misquoted, and those are the 1/22 from rare monsters and the 1/28808, the reason is more personal than anything else. how do u get sange and yasha - mimas - 04-10-2004 Kefka Wrote:So when a rate was X.1 to X.5, he would round it down, and if it was from X.6 to X.9, he would round it up.Mathematically speaking, anything up to BUT NOT INCLUDING 0.5 is rounded down. Anything that is exactly or above 0.5 is rounded up. This also applies to really itty-bitty decimals too - just alter the number of decimal places on my example accordingly. Don't tell me you did not understand -_- There cannot be decimals in PSO, so even X.0000001 would get rounded up to be 100% accurate. ST seem to have a poor understanding of rounding numbers... how do u get sange and yasha - Mini_Bert - 05-10-2004 Mimas, don't you understand what kefka's trying to tell you? You can't have 1/3 of a monster but, you cant just ignore it, if you rounded it down, it would be wrong, because then you'd be missing 1/3 of a monster, and since you cant have 1/3 of a monster, it would have to be rounded up and counted as a monster, since it IS there. how do u get sange and yasha - mimas - 05-10-2004 And why would ST program a room to have, say 5 1/3 Vulmers and two Nano Dragons? It's just pointless. how do u get sange and yasha - flickynick - 05-10-2004 *slaps mimas* THATS WHY KEFKA AND EVERYONE IS TRYING TO TELL YOU IT GETS ROUNDED UP, BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GET 1/3 OF AN ENEMY. |
