i hope they are intelligent... what i ment was:
Hunter: the phantasy star games where not in english at first, so i think in
Japanese it may have been something more like warrior but when it got changed to english the closest word was hunter or the people translateing could not speak english well.
Ranger: in most online games there is a ranged class called rangers
force: if you know what starwars is, then you know about "the force" and my other idea for this is sometimes wind water and the like are called forces of nature

Thanks FW. So in the original PS the characters' classes just didn't get named the same as those classes in PSO.
One of the planets had 'mar'? So the humans in PSO actually aren't from Earth? They're all a bunch of aliens :p.
Yeah, it does makes some sense that they're all called hunters (even though it coincides with the HU-s). The HU-, RA-, FO- prefixes are obviously abbreviations of what they mean, but the -mar etc. suffixes aren't!
Zeank Aiya's probably right. They're just a less silly-sounding way of having them called something like FOhumanman or FOhumanwoman. Well, HUhum and FOnewm... Or HUman. Imagine "You're in-HUman"! :paranoid:

What made you think the humans in PSO came from Earth? I don't see Earth being renamed Coral anytime soon.
I think Coral is probably just Earth in another universe. I think PSO is set in a reality where our planet earth does not exist, a bit like, well almost every RPG? ^_~

Well, then again, in a lotta sci-fi RPGS, earth is mentioned somewhere, like in Xenosaga, Star Ocean ect.

it is... at the end of phantasy star 3 i think they find earth (one of the endings anyway... i think there where 12) and in phantasy star 2 i think it said something about earth being corupted by faltz or blown up or something... or that might have been 4, anyway no these humens are not from earth.

- Your death awaits you in this city of Lashute!
- We wanted Siren and Lune to start another war, but we
needed Rhys to bring Satellite back. And that's
exactly what that old fool did!
- Centuries ago, Laya locked the passageways between the
domed worlds of our ship, Alisa III. But your father
and grandfather opened them up again, enabling us to
spread evil once more!
Guards:
- Dark Force brings your doom, fools!
- You fools have done everything we wanted!
Rulakir:
My heart went black 1,000 years ago, when my family died in
the Laya-Orakio war. Dark Force owns my soul and he shall
own yours!
(A battle between Rulakir and the party ensues. Rulakir is
defeated.)
Rulakir:
You have freed me; destroy Dark Force!
Narrator:
Rulakir is dead; finally he is at peace.
(The party finds Dark Force in a chest in Lashuteâs
dungeon.)
Dark Force:
I am Dark Force, master of Death! Your sorrow, anger, and
pain are my strength! Observe my might and despair of life,
fools! I will greatly enjoy your painful deaths!
(A battle between Dark Force and the party ensues. Dark
Force is defeated.)
Dark Force:
Wasn't that ship explosion a blast? I destroyed one of
the two remaining ships left out of the original 400;
you're the last one now! I'll finish your ship off 1,000
years hence.
Narrator:
Dark Force disappears!
(Aron casts Megido.)
Aron:
This evil city is too evil to leave standing!
Narrator:
Aronâs anger triggered the Megido technique.
(Lashute begins to crumble.)
Wren:
Megido is tearing the whole city apart!
Mieu:
Hurry, we've got to get out of here!
Wren:
There's no time, we'll never make it!
(Mieu casts Grantz.)
Narrator:
Mieu used the Grantz technique automatically. The entire
party was instantly teleported to a place of safety far
from the falling city.
(Lashute falls from the sky.)
Narrator:
The evil city seemed to scream a hideous cry as it fell
from the sky and sank deep into the lake.
(The ship approaches a black hole.)
Mieu:
Look! We're going into a black hole!
(The ship passes through and appears near a new planet.)
Kara:
We were knocked out by that collision.
Wren:
The stars aren't in the right places. We were transported
across space and time when we went through the black hole's
surface.
Mieu:
We're getting a message from a planet that orbits the star
ahead of us....
Voice:
Greetings, alien craft! Identify yourselves. This is the
London Communications Center on Earth of the Sol system.
