NO! ...Yes, it is that cack program. *Shakes fist*
The English dubbing butchered it. Please, please do not judge it from the dubbed version. They chopped about 5 minutes of "irrelevant" material off nearly every episode (to the extent that the storyline stopped making sense), they picked the worst voice actors, they re-wrote loads of script, they skipped episodes, they even recomposed the soundtrack and the BGM nearly made my ears bleed.

I know this because I have watched the first season of the original fan-subbed version. (Can't find the second season. I'm too old for it now :S).

Anyway... Sorry about that. What I really meant was, I liked the manga's story setting better than (the beginning of) Chobits'. Tongue

You were against all of anime, and not CCS. I cannot argue, although I've not heard of the series you mentioned. I bet it's just because you haven't seen any series to your taste. I know I still haven't found one completely to my taste.

Too bad for you that PSO uses anime-style characters. Well, each to their own.

And before I get shouted at by Ria, how about .hack manga, which is about MMORPGs. I've read the beginning of it and it seems okay-ish.

I highly recommend Gunbuster. It must be fairly old now, i think it came out on the kiseki label, subtitled only. Its pretty much about a girl and her love for robots, sounds crap but believe me its really deep.

My fav. anime of all time has to be macross plus, also highly recommended Smile

EDIT: just re-read thread, thought we were talking about anime not comics sry. Ive got some appleseed and guyver comics, theyre pretty good

Gunbuster?! Wow...I used to have the VHS for that waaaaay back in the day. But regardless of it's age I still faintly remember enjoying it.

Another manga that I picked up which seems that it could be good is Rave Master. I like the characters and the manga beats the crap out of what they're showing on Adult Swim. Which again proves that a show, no matter how good, can easily be ruined by a bad dubbing cast.

I've also recently began reading Peace Maker Kurogane and it's also very good. Yes, this title has a show and a manga, but the manga came free with the first DVD so I can't complain there. But anyway if you like Kenshin or Samurai Deeper Kyo at all then I'd definitely pick this one up.

I've seen an advert for that. I find it very unoriginal and boring :x

Bad dubbing huh? Who dubbed it?

It's liscensed by Tokyopop, BUT it's being dubbed FOR CARTOON NETWORK. Since cartoon network had the rights to get the show, Tokyopop used it's "cheesiest" dubbing department to make it more appealing to kids. I don't even know if it was completely intentional, but it is really bad when a dub sound that cheesy and overacted. (It's painfully obvious when the girl with the machine-gun tonfas does a Xena yell whenever she shoots...atrocious...)

Sounds bad :S

Anyway! Finished reading Fruits Basket vol 5 - it was ok... but there was too much talk sometimes which bored me. The topic of the chat was the cause too. I don't think I'll buy another of this :/

Has anyone here read Gundam seed:Astray? I found it at the bookstore yesterday and I really liked it. Is it worth getting?

I never knew that Ghost in the shell: SAC had a magna. wow, where can i find the magna?

Also, Psychic Academy now does have an anime miniseries. My sister downloaded it and she likes it. she got it from Animesuki.

I reccomend Tsubasa, it's a really good manga, even if it is loosely based on Cardcaptors: Sakura.

It's really good, and quite funny in places.
