yes the stats are important but the bonus stats (invencibility....) and the phonton blast are also important.
i have 2 mags with def = 45 and i'm creating one with 70(just to put the parts of robo chao, im almost maxed (stats) so pow is important def=200/mind=200/dex=200 i don't mind (if the mag gives you invencibility .....)

I'm raising a Nidra, which gives invincibility for 1/10 HP, Boss Battle and full PB gauge, it will have Mylla and Youlla, Pilla and Estella Photon Blasts, it's gonna be light blue and specialise in MIND. Ideal Mag for me.

Anyone got advice on what mag to have as a RAcaseal? i have a soniti thats lvl 146 with 70 or 80 dex i can't remember stat off the top of my head buts its LEGIT

have fun making a mag with 5 def... 30 def maybe a bit excessive, but its good as you get hit for less damage. true that some characters need less dex than 70, but nearly all hunters need that extra dex as their other stats tend to sap from that one. also, a HU doesnt need that much atp on a mag as it will hit a lot of damage anyway. 100+ would be fine.
jimbo, you've made the traditional m,istake with mags on rangers. rangers have plenty of ata, 40/50 dex on a RA mag is plenty. the rest should go towards pow, mind and def arent that important on a ranger, and ranger weapons and atp isnt that good so they need the boost from their mags.

it gives you invencibility
you can only get that mag if you are redria/purpulum/skyly/yelowboze and.....
if you don't like the phonton blast, make the mag evolve to a other one that you like then change the stats so it evolve to an apsaras.
