Getting online with Wanadoo 1MB - voxie - 10-11-2005 Okay, I've read all you've said. I checked this screen: http://www.mamezine.org.uk/images/psotiff1.gif I go to the Properties for the Local Area Connection, I go to Advanced, then the Network Setup Wizard. I came to this screen, the GC connection (I presume is what it is?) comes up disconnected: http://www.mamezine.org.uk/images/psotiff2.gif Hoping that is normal, I ticked the 'Ignore disconnected hardware' box, and clicked Next. "When it asks you to select a connection method, first choose 'Other' and then 'This computer connects directly to the internet. I do not have a Network yet'. Continue until it asks about file sharing, and make sure that you've selected the 'Turn On file and printer sharing'. Okay, I did all that, then I came to this, asking about Network Disks: http://www.mamezine.org.uk/images/psotiff3.gif I selected 'Just finish the wizard. I don't need to run the wizard on other computers', which I think is the right thing to do. The computer then says it needs to restart, and I do. I then connect to the net, and try connecting with my GC again (By going to Online Game, selecting my character and agreeing to connect etc.), and it comes up with that same error, as if the cable and broadband adapter aren't connected properly... I checked my Network connections again, it looks like this right now, it's what Windows configured after the restart: http://www.mamezine.org.uk/images/psotiff4.gif Hmm, I remembered I played with the BBA settings before (the proxy menus etc.) So I'm going to default them and try it again. I'll let you know if it's good news! If not, that means I'm still having a problem lol Getting online with Wanadoo 1MB - Lee-yoshi - 10-11-2005 Okey Dokey. I did suddenly remember something i changed in the settings yesterday, but i then realised that that was changed for PSOProxy and has nothing to do with the game! Ok... Cheers for this, great help Doesn't mean i'm going to be able to solve your problems still mind Who's knows though, might get lucky!Your 'Speedtouch Connection' and 'Local Area Connection' should both contain the word 'Shared' in the little greyed out area's as mine is in this screenshot (Note it doesn't say it under my 'Local Area Connection' anymore since changing it to compensate for my new connection): http://lee-yoshi.sauntonsandssurflifesavingclub.co.uk/etc/screenshot1.jpg When you said you clicked ignore disconnected hardware, try not doing so, and i'm sure i clicked the hardware that it comes up with... The one that is displayed is the one you need to get your 'Local Area Connection' working anyways, try selecting it... If that doesn't do anything, right click your 'Speedtouch Connection', click the 'Advanced' tab, and see if any of the following areas are ticked, they should be as in this screenshot: http://lee-yoshi.sauntonsandssurflifesavingclub.co.uk/etc/screenshot2.jpg If that doesn't work try doing the same with the 'Local Area Connection'. If that doesn't work, fiddle around with the Firewall settings possibly to see if that maybe blocking your network connections... Just keep trying! Getting online with Wanadoo 1MB - voxie - 11-11-2005 So which connection do you use to connect to PSO? I noticed the Virgin one is under Dial Up, not LAN. Should I try making a new connection altogether? Like a LAN connection, that dials up? Is that even possible... lol I will keep trying! I WANT MY LAST XMAS ON PSO!!!!! ![]() Sigh. Trial, error, trial, error... Getting online with Wanadoo 1MB - Azekiel - 11-11-2005 im still strugglin too...i have the added hinderance of not even having or being able to create a LAN...which is very annoying.. Az --- Getting online with Wanadoo 1MB - Lee-yoshi - 12-11-2005 You should already have 'Local Area Connection' setup in your Network Places, what Operating System are you using Azekiel? Voxie, was your's not in dial-up in the first place? When i used the speedtouch to go online, i had to dial-up through the speedtouch to connect to the internet to use broadband, it wasn't just an 'always on' system... I really don't know what else to suggest, really running dry on idea's now! lol I'll have to have a look at my SEGA network info and see if there's anything there, i don't THINK i've adjusted them after trying to get it to work here (And failing!) Getting online with Wanadoo 1MB - Azekiel - 14-11-2005 im on XP pro...i know there used to be LAN connection in "my network places", but for some reason it up and left...cheap drop-out..lol.. oh well, if nothings working then ill have to sit out on plaing GC over christmas.. Az --- Getting online with Wanadoo 1MB - Lee-yoshi - 14-11-2005 Do you have any connections listed under 'LAN' in 'My Network Places'? If not you could try 'Create a New Connection' or maybe 'Set up a small home or office connection'... Getting online with Wanadoo 1MB - Azekiel - 14-11-2005 ive tried bot "new network connection" and "new home or office network". neither actually give me a different type of connection. i might try again though, i suppose i could be going wrong somewhere.. Az --- Getting online with Wanadoo 1MB - Lee-yoshi - 14-11-2005 It MIGHT be that maybe theres actual hardware that prompts your computer to tell you've that a LAN is possible... how long have you had your computer? Does it's LAN port still work correctly if you plug anything into it? Getting online with Wanadoo 1MB - voxie - 14-11-2005 I'm confused... should I be trying to connect with LAN or dial-up? When I hear 'dial-up' I always think that's a 56k modem being talked about >_< My 1MB Wanadoo connection isn't 'always on', I do have to dial up first. Perhaps this is where I'm going wrong? Do I need to 'dial-up' at a certain point, so my GC can detect it's there? If so, when? I'm using broadband, and my GC's BBA, so I presumed I'd have to try getting online via LAN. Should I try conneting via Dial-up on my PC, is that even possible with my 1MB connection? lol *head hurts* Yeah Lee-yoshi, I think we're all running out of ideas lol Hi Azekiel ![]() Let's just hope all this faffing about is worth it, eh? |
