Chapter 4 – It’s Difficult to Stand on Two Feet when you’re covered in Acid

The melted bronze oozed along the floor as the Deteriosaur continued its charge towards Pink. The huge hulking mass of lizard was capable of shattering anything in its way. Why can’t the enemy be SMALL for once?! Pink quickly made sure to dash out of the way of the monster’s charge, not wanting to become the first pink-flavoured pancake.
A loud crash sounded after Pink evaded the first charge, she turned to see an unexpected sight. Looks like this thing isn’t very smart… she could see the Deteriosaur had stupidly ran right into the wall, dazing it for a bit before letting out a roar and running in Pink’s direction again.
Bloody thing didn’t even make a dent in the wall… there’s not chance of my claws digging through the wall, that’s for sure. The Deteriosaur suddenly lunges at Pink, trying to gobble her up in a single bite, causing Pink to back-flip out of the way. Ah ha! Seeing this as a chance to strike, Pink leaps forward and latches onto the monster’s head, trying to stab its eyes with her claws, only to realize that its eyes were protected by that same glass-like material. Blast! Seems whoever these people are, they were smart enough to consider guarding this creature’s weak points. Pink tried slashing at the monsters thick scales and even leaned down to try taking a bite out it, but the scales were just too hard. Damn it! The Deteriosaur wasn’t going to wait for Pink, with a few quick tosses of its head; it launched Pink as if she were as light as a feather, sending Pink hurdling face first into the wall.
A loud smash resonated as Pink’s skull made impact with the wall, causing her to fall and crash into one of the pods on her way down, giving her a bit of a jolt from the poorly protected electrical wires on top of the pod. A little smoke rose from her from the electrical shock and she was severely wounded from the impact as she lay still on the floor. Ugh… I can’t let this thing beat me… I’ve got to protect my home… with visible effort Pink managed to pull herself to her feet. My claws and fangs may be useless against this monstrosity, but maybe my new toy can damage it.
Pink stumbled towards the Deteriosaur, the creature now noticing that Pink was alive, started charging to deliver a finishing attack. Starting to regain a bit of strength, Pink dashed with as much speed as she could muster, quickly rolling to the side to avoid another attempt at the monster eating her, she spun around and unsheathed the Sange she took from the male human she had killed earlier and jabbed it into the Deteriosaur’s leg, holding on to it tightly as the creature stumbled forward, crying out from the pain of the wound.
Yes, this blade’s sharp enough to pierce its scales! The Deteriosaur went crashing to the floor, unable to walk with the blade impaled into its side. The stumble caused Pink to lose her grip and she got sent head-over-heels rolling along the ground. The monster was already trying to get back on its feet, so Pink quickly got back on her feet, running back to remove the Sange and leap up onto the monster’s back. I’ve got to find some way to break these tanks! She slashed at the giant tanks of the strange green ooze with her blade, trying to break it, but was rather displeased that she could only scratch it. It’ll take too long for me to break even a small hole in this thing, and it may take even longer for me to kill it with this tiny sword.
Pink quickly stabbed her Sange into the Deteriosaur’s back as she noticed the creature rising to its feet. Gripping the blade’s handle tight, Pink secured herself as the monster let out a loud roar, shaking its entire body left and right in an attempt to get Pink off of it. Despite the pain in her arms and legs from holding her position, Pink stayed on the monster, not wanting a repeat of the last flinging.
The monster eventually stopped trying to shake her off, and instead started dashing forward. I know what it’s trying to do!!! Quickly Pink got herself to her feet and ran forward, slicing and stabbing all over the Deteriosaur’s back as she ran. Even the creature’s blood was green, quickly soaking the blade and Pink’s lower fur, she carefully made her way along the creature’s neck and with one violent thrust, sent the blade through where its brain should be.
The Deteriosaur let out an ear-piercing screech of pain, violently turning its head back and dug its teeth into Pink’s leg, causing her to scream out in pain and it also flung her away, sending her hurdling through the air to crash into the ground. Wincing from the severe pain in her leg, Pink tried to get back on her feet, only to fall back against the ground. Damn it! That wound’s not going to be healing anytime soon. Taking a look back to check the damage Pink could see that her leg was bleeding badly, getting the fur around the wound quite wet. With an effort she managed to stand, growling furiously at the Deteriosaur.
Pink went wide-eyed as she saw what the Deteriosaur was doing, jumping to the side just in time as a ball of green ooze flew past her, burning the end of her tail. Okay… I need to finish this soon, or I’m going to become this thing’s snack. I think I know just what to do… Struggling with her injured leg, Pink rushed forward as fast as she could, trying to get near the monster’s mouth again.
Knowing just what the monster would try, Pink jumped backward as the creature tried, yet again, to gobble her up with a single bite. She climbed up the creatures head and quickly removed her Sange from it, running towards the tanks. She knew just what she was doing, jabbing the blade into the monster’s back and using the tanks for an easy foothold, she prepared to hang on as long as necessary. The creature shrieked and shook in an attempt to get Pink off, but it just was not working. The creature even tried to dash forward then come to a quick stop, but Pink’s foothold was too secure for the inertia to send her flying. Come on you stupid thing… do what I want you to do.
After a few more feeble attempts at shaking Pink off, the Deteriosaur turned its head back and glared viciously at Pink. After letting out a loud roar, the creature started inhaling, the green ooze traveling through the pipes towards its mouth. Anticipating the action Pink prepared to jump out of the way, getting into a squatting position. The monster did just as Pink suspected, firing a green ball of ooze at her, but she was well prepared and leaped over it, taking her Sange with her.
The ooze hit dead-on what Pink was hoping for. The liquid hit the tanks on the Deteriosaur’s back, and to Pink’s pleasant surprise it started melting the glass-like material, if a bit slowly. Now if I can just stall long enough, I might be able to beat this thing. The Deteriosaur was furious at missing and began gnashing its teeth at Pink, once again trying to eat her to deal with her swiftly. Pink made sure to hop off the Deteriosaur, not desiring to be hurled into any more hard objects. She quickly ran across the room, jumping from side to side to dodge the snapping jaws chasing behind her. Growling at the Deteriosaur and giving it a swift jab in the nose with her Sange, she quickly slid backwards, going towards the other side of the Deteriosaur.

Dark Desires - A fanfiction by Pink - pink - 15-10-2006

Not being the smartest thing on Ragol, the Deteriosaur tried snapping its jaws at Pink underneath it self, causing it to lose its balance and stumble forward, falling to the ground. Sloshing liquids could be heard once the creature crashed to the floor, Pink looked up to see that the ooze had melted all the way through the glass-like material and the ooze contained within the tank had spilled all over the top of the Deteriosaur. Hahaha! That should get it!
The creature let out an ear-shattering scream as the ooze began eating through its body, it tried to stumble to its feet and its awkward motions ended up sending more ooze flying all over the room. Pink stumbled left and right, trying to avoid any of the liquid coming her way, the blood loss in her leg starting to really affect her movements. The Deteriosaur convulsed after a moment, the ooze quickly eating through its body leaving nothing but charged bones and the rest of the liquid was quickly eating away its neck and head. Pink got taken by surprise as another small ball of ooze flew towards her and ended up hitting her in the back of the foot, causing her to scream out in pain and she quickly tore off a piece of her clothing and used it to wipe all the liquid onto so it would eat through that instead of her flesh. Her foot was still badly burned and the skin was quite tender from losing so many layers.
Falling to her knees, Pink gazed over at the Deteriosaur, and sighed in relief noticing that it was now motionless, laying dead on the floor with nothing but bone left of its front half. The lack of the creature’s life-force seemed to be enough for the doors to unlock, because all the shutters began lifting, allowing Pink to be able to exit. Before leaving Pink leaned over to her still-bleeding leg, wrapping her lips around the wound to suck some of the blood out and spit it aside, trying to clean up the wound so it could start to heal. She continued this process while applying pressure to the wound until it began to bleed a little less.
Stumbling to her feet and quite weak from the pain she was in, Pink stumbled out the way she had came, her Sange sheathed once more beside her. Before leaving out of the main gate though, something caught her eye. A little white box with a red cross on it was hanging up on the wall near the entrance, she decided to look inside it for anything that may help her wound heal. She found a few pads that look like they could control the blood loss, and some tape that could keep the pads firmly pressed to her leg. She sat down so she could pile three pads on the wound, and tightly wrap them around her leg.
Limply shaking her leg for a moment to make sure she could walk on it properly, Pink limped out of the gate, starting to make her way back out of the entire structure the way she had come in. Much to her relief there were no more guards on the way out, she was hardly fit for more fighting and she didn’t much want to encounter anymore interference. It seems this structure’s a bit too well defended for me to get rid of alone… I will have to return some other day to see if I can do something about it.
Finally emerging back outside, Pink continued to limp back into the forest, heading back towards her secret home. These humans may be looking for me now that more than one has seen me and still lives. She continued to stumble her way, heading home to rest, clean herself up, and properly treat her multiple wounds from the fierce battle.

“What?! How can this be!” the mysterious man who had released the Deteriosaur on Pink cried out. “How could that THING have beaten one of our greatest creations?”

“Reports say that the acid tank’s covering looked to have melted, and our Deteriosaur itself had half its body deteriorated away to nothing but charred bones.” a soldier reported, watching the other man nervously.

“Those tanks were designed to keep the acid stored safely on the inside. We’ve tested them constantly and found nothing wrong with them, is there any report as to what melted it?” the man questioned angrily.

“Our reports also say that the damage looks like it was done by our acid… but from the outside instead of the inside. We’re not quite sure what happened.” the soldier replied with an air of mystery.

“I see… what about that cat… THING… that invaded our laboratory? Is there any sort of pictures or anything that I could show to the mistress that have been recovered from the labs?” the man asked, getting more intense by the moment.

“We recovered some footage of this creature in our labs, and also during the battle against our Deteriosaur. The camera was melted at one point though, so there’s only a short amount of footage of the battle.” the soldier replied, feeling more confident now.

“Good… get me all the info you can on that creature, and I’ll report this to Madam Vivian right away. This could seriously impede our research.” the man ordered, nodding to himself.

“Yes sir. I’ll get the info for you immediately.” answering quickly, the soldier ran off to do just what he was ordered.

I would have never expected such a tiny, insignificant creature to survive against our beast and escape alive… it seems we are not making our monsters strong enough if one little pest could defeat it alone. The mysterious man sat at his desk, preparing his report for Madam Vivian, not exactly looking forward to the task. Madam Vivian is going to be furious… I hope she doesn’t take her anger out on me… again… The man picked up his pen, letting out a long sigh, before beginning to write.

Gah! I just noticed that this thing completely butchers my italics... that's going to be a BIG problem... italics were supposed to represent thoughts, that'll make things at least 10x harder to read properly.

EDIT: There. All bolds and italics fixed. They were particularly plentiful in chapters 3 and 4, so those two chapters should be much more readable now. I'll have to manually correct the blasted things each time I post a chapter.

Chapter 5 – A Hunt and a Rescue Mission

Much to Cranberry’s displeasure, the communicator in her room started giving off an alarm, signalling that she was getting an important call. With visible effort, the FOnewearl dragged herself out of bed, still fully dressed from yesterday’s brutal activities. After rubbing her eyes for a moment, she clumsily made her way to the communicator, turning it on while still rubbing at her eyes.
The communicator greeted her with a very unenthusiastic “You have, 1, important message.” With a small sigh Cranberry pushed the button to let the message play. I swear, they gave me all the cheapest things they could… this communicator is like… thirty years old! The communicator sputtered a bit, making a few unusual sounds before playing the message. Oh yeah… I forgot the hologram function was broken on this… I need to get that fixed.
Madam Vivian’s voice could be heard coming from the communicator, playing the message that had been left. “All hunters that passed the first phase of my research plan, report to sector 7G immediately, suited and ready for travel on Ragol! There’s a matter of much importance that I need your help with, and this has to be dealt with as soon as possible. Any hunters who do not show up by 9AM will not be allowed to continue aiding in my research, and thus, will not be getting paid anything else. I apologize for the inconvenience, but this matter just came up and it is urgent that everyone responds and is ready to go.”
Cranberry sighed after hearing the message, knowing this meant another hard day’s work. She looked at the clock to notice that it was already 8:30AM, and with a gasp, gathered up her belongings, woke up Sato, and both of them quickly headed off towards the sector 7G.

******

Earlier that morning, Madam Vivian was emerging from her offices, heading towards her lab investigate the creatures her hunters brought back from Ragol. Hmhmhm… money makes the world go round, and these hunters are working for me just for the money, not really caring what I do. Sometimes it’s so rewarding being an influential scientist.
Vivian was stopped in her tracks as she heard her name called out behind her. “Yes, what is it? Why are you interrupting me so early in the morning?” Vivian demanded, seeing a familiar face running towards her.

The mysterious man approached Vivian, holding his report in his hands, catching his breath for a moment before blurting out, “It’s the forest laboratory! Last night there was an intruder, and it caused a lot of damage, and even defeated one of our more proud creations, the Deteriosaur!”

“What? How could this happen? You MUST tell me EVERYTHING that happened… IMMEDIATELY! Do you understand me?!” Vivian fiercely stated to the man, getting angrier by the second.

“I have everything I can report with me right here my mistress.” the man bowed, handing Vivian his report and continued, “I also have some footage of the intruder in our laboratory… this was no ordinary intruder, this… thing… was a creature like we’ve never seen before.”

Vivian gazed over the pictures with a continually darker and more disgusted look on her face. “Show me this footage, NOW!” Vivian shouted, following the mysterious man as he quickly brought her along the quarters of Vivian’s offices to where he had the security footage ready to go.
Leading Vivian into his office, the mysterious man made sure to get a chair for her first and made sure she was comfortable before starting to footage. Such a good servant that one… his wits are about him even with such a risky situation on his hands. Vivian glared at the screen as it played the recorded security footage, showing the female cat-like creature in many different locations throughout the forest laboratory, and showing the same creature taking on the giant Deteriosaur. “What exactly IS that thing? Do we have any information on it at all?” demanded Vivian, getting much angrier now.

“I’m afraid not my mistress… the most that we know is what you have seen, and I know it also speaks our language since I encountered it personally last night… or she rather… she seemed rather intent on finding out what we were doing to the creatures from Ragol.” the man reported, cold sweat developing on his forehead.

Vivian nodded fiercely, boring her eyes at the man as if she could stare a hole into his head, “Give me this footage… I want to know what that thing is… I’m going to send out my hunters that passed the first request for our ‘biological research’ and see if they can bring this thing back alive. I’ll offer a hefty reward of course, it’ll help encourage them.” Vivian stated, matter-of-factly, feeling confident about her decision.

“Very well… with the reward up for grabs, there shouldn’t be any trouble convincing the hunters to participate even if it is still fairly early in the morning.” the man made one more bow before removing the disc containing the security footage and handing it to Vivian. “Is there anything more you would ask of me my mistress?” the man inquired, looking ready to do anything that was asked of him.

“No, I’ve got everything I need now. I’m going to send out a high-priority message to every hunter that brought back their requested creature; this will make sure their alarms sound so they can be woken up. You may go about your business as normal and I thank you for bringing me this report so swiftly.” Vivian answered in a calm tone. The man bowed once more to show his appreciation before leaving the room, Vivian followed behind him heading about her own business. Getting a civil tone from me despite the bad news is reward enough for him. He must know how to see that by now if he already knows just how to behave around me. An excellent servant indeed… Vivian continued her journey, heading back to her offices to send out her message to call all the hunters to sector 7G, wasting no time at all to start the hunt.

Cranberry accidentally bumped into a few people in her rush towards sector 7G, she was sure she was going to be the last one there. Sato had the easy route, merely gliding over everyone’s heads while keeping close to Cranberry. There better be a long rest before we have another task, because this one’s going to use up whatever strength I have left.
After several minutes of jogging throughout the streets of Pioneer 2, Cranberry reached the familiar lab where sector 7G was located. Phew… just in time. Looking at the clock she saw it was 8:58AM, and she casually joined the group of hunters gathered around the same spot they were at the first meeting. She managed to weave her way through the crowd to reach Striker and Black Raiden, standing towards the middle of the group.
“It’s about time you showed up Cranberry, I was wondering if I was going to have to come get you myself.” Striker laughed, looking at the disoriented FOnewearl, with her hair a mess and her clothes making it quite obvious that she slept in them.

“Now, now honey, no need to pick on Cranberry. She had a rough day yesterday after all.” Raiden stated, rubbing Striker’s shoulder softly.

“Oh I was only teasing…” Striker sulked, sagging a bit from the accusations.

“It’s alright Raiden, I don’t mind. I imagine I do look like a bit of a mess, I jogged the whole way here.” Cranberry replied with a little laugh.

Before anyone else could say anything, Vivian came bursting into the room just like last time, except this time, everyone cleared the way for her, not wanting to be shoved aside again. Vivian took her spot up by her pedestal and immediately began her report. “Again I apologize for getting a lot of you up so early today, and especially since you haven’t even had a day’s rest since your last assignment, but something very important has come up. I thank you all for coming and for being so punctual, I’d like you all to pay attention to the following security footage.” Vivian made a gesture towards the wall at the back of the room, where a screen was descending into the room. The footage of the cat-like woman being shown on the screen, “The strange creature shown in this security footage was caught invading one of our laboratories last night, but despite our best efforts, it escaped alive and there were several casualties. Your job is to go down to Ragol in groups and try to bring back this creature alive. Each group will be given some pictures to help you identify it. The group that brings in the creature will receive a hefty reward since this creature is a threat to my research and may very well prevent the breakthrough I am aiming for. However, if I hear there’s any violence between groups of hunters, or between members of a group, they will not receive anything from me even if they bring in the creature. There will also be no reward if the creature is brought in dead. I need it alive in order to do proper research so do not let me down! Now go, my assistant at the main desk will give you your photos as well as a communication device so all of you can communicate with each other and ask for back-up if it is needed. You must do this for the sake of making Ragol’s creatures gently and harmless!” Vivian made an elaborate gesture towards the main desk, waiting for the hunters to start moving before making her way back out of the room.
Cranberry gestured for Black Raiden and Striker to wait before going to the counter, “Hang on… I’ve got to talk to you about this assignment.” The two droids nodded, and Cranberry waited for all the other hunters to leave before continuing, “That creature… I met her last night while working on my assignment. She… she saved my life… I would’ve died if she hadn’t have chosen to show herself and kill my attacker. I think something’s wrong here… and I don’t think we should try to bring her in… instead, I think we should try to rescue her from the other hunters, get her somewhere safe.”

“Are you sure this creature is safe Cranberry? She looked pretty fearsome on that security footage.” Striker stated, looking a bit concerned.

“I’m definitely not sure she’s safe… but I don’t want her to go through any harm… and I’m sure she’ll go through plenty of harm if Vivian gets her hands on her. That creature’s name is Pink… she saved my life… and now I want to help her in return… if she’ll let me.” Cranberry replied, sighing as she remembered Pink’s impatience with her the previous night.

“Well, I think we should help Striker… this creature, Pink, definitely would not want to have research performed on her, and perhaps there’s more to her than meets the eye.” Raiden assured Striker, wrapping an arm around him.

”Very well… let’s just be extra careful… Pink looks quite dangerous and could likely slice my circuits with relative ease.” Striker said, heaving a sigh as he felt obligated to help out too.

“Thank you… I really don’t want to see Pink come to any harm. Let’s go get our equipment at the main desk so we can keep track of what’s going on. If someone else finds her before we do, we’ve got to intercept and help her get out of there.” Cranberry exclaimed, already starting to walk toward the desk with Raiden and Striker close behind.
After collecting their assigned gear and testing to make sure everything was working, Cranberry, Black Raiden, and Striker made their way to the teleport, sending them down to the surface of Ragol. The rest of the hunters were gathered a little ways from the teleport, a couple of them standing on some rocks so they could look over the crowd. Watching to see if everyone had arrived, and with a nod, a HUnewearl cleared her throat and addressed everyone. “Alright everybody, we’ve already got all of our groups picked out, now remember, we’ve got to bring back the creature alive! Once anyone locates the creature call everyone immediately to your position, because it looks very dangerous and the more of us there are, the better chance we have of capturing it without causing any fatal damage. Are we all in agreement?” The HUnewearl looked over the crowd, seeing everyone nod, and then nodded herself. “Alright everyone… lets go hunting!” cried the HUnewearl raising her fist into the air and watched as all the groups split up, heading in all different directions across the land.

Dark Desires - A fanfiction by Pink - pink - 15-10-2006

“What do you think?” asked Cranberry curiously, “Should we split up to look for Pink, or should we all look together?”

“I’d say it would be wise for us to stick together. Pink’s dangerous and I don’t want either of you getting hurt, especially Raiden.” Striker replied, showing obvious concern.

“Gee… thanks.” Cranberry sneered with a sarcastic grin towards Striker, “It’s decided though, we’ll stick together. We’ll cover less ground, but we’ll be a lot safer. After all, there’s more than just Pink out here that’s dangerous.” The three of them nodded to each other before proceeding in a different direction than any of the other groups of hunters, keeping a close eye on the blossoming wilderness all around them.

“Did I mention that I’m sick of forests?” asked Cranberry, followed by a small groan.

“I don’t really blame you. You were stuck out here all yesterday afternoon and evening, it wouldn’t be all that much fun.” Raiden replied, giving Cranberry a little comforting pat on the shoulder.

“I only don’t like forests because they’re filled with bugs… I hate bugs…” Striker added, confirming his displeasure by making a squishing gesture with his fingers.

“Last night I noticed something pretty weird though… this forest seems to be pretty well empty of any of Ragol’s wildlife. I didn’t even see so much as a booma before coming across the hildeblue I was looking for.” Cranberry stated with a little concern.

“That certainly isn’t normal… I never really saw anything other than a couple of rappies either… it’s like something or someone is getting rid of all the wildlife in this area.” Raiden replied, tilting her head a little in thought.

“Whatever it is… I don’t like it one bit.” Striker grumbled, his big RAcast feet causing the under-brush beneath them to crack and break as he moved through the forest. Several moments passed in silence as the party moved deeper into the forest. Cutting away thick vines and thorn-bushes blocking their path, the trees were beginning to shut out the light of the afternoon sun, making it more and more difficult to see.

“I get the feeling this search may take awhile… there’s no telling where Pink could be.” Cranberry stated, sighing from the thought.

“I’m sure someone will find her eventually… hopefully it will be us.” Raiden replied, not sounding too happy about if they didn’t find Pink first.

“I’m not so sure if I want to find her first…” Striker mumbled, trying not to be heard all too clearly.

“Well unlike everyone else, we’re out here to try and bring her to a safe place.” Cranberry reminded Striker, with just a touch of firmness in her voice.

“…Cranberry… where exactly are we going to bring her?” Raiden replied, seeing a hole in the plan. Cranberry stopped dead, realizing she had forgotten all about that.

“Do you think it would be possible to hide her somewhere on Pioneer 2?” Cranberry asked nervously, really wanting to sort out this problem.

Raiden and Striker stopped moving forward as well, turning to face Cranberry. “How would we be able to hide her? Her appearance is very… noticeable to say the least.” Raiden answered firmly, not much liking the idea.

“I think the safest thing to do would be to transport her elsewhere. This area isn’t safe for her any longer because hunters will be looking for her constantly.” Striker added, putting particular emphases on his plan.

“Well that’s really the best idea we have to go by. Once we find Pink lets help her get to somewhere safe. I don’t think she’d be very willing to come aboard Pioneer 2 anyways.” Cranberry agreed, nodding to herself as she thought it over.

Just as if something were cueing it, the communication system the three of them were given suddenly yelled out, a male voice saying, “We’ve found it! We’ll put the coordinates on the communications system. Please hurry! This thing is extremely dangerous! My group members have already taken quite a bit of damage and we’re not going to be able to stop this thing alone! Everyone, please hurry and come!”
Cranberry, Striker, and Raiden’s heads snapped up, looking at each other in a slight panic as Striker immediately brought up the holographic map to show them the marked coordinates. “We better start running, that location is at least ten minutes from our current location.” Striker stated, nodding to Cranberry and Raiden before setting out at a run with the others following right behind him.
The party dashed through the forest, leaping over thick branches that would likely cause them to trip. Raiden took the lead so she could slice away any obstacles with her double cannon as the party aggressively made their way towards the coordinates. The communication system once again sounded, “Damn it! Somebody please hurry! This thing’s killed both my group mates!” causing the party to run even faster towards their target.
“We’re almost there! Get ready everyone; this isn’t going to be easy!” Cranberry shouted to Raiden and Striker, casting shifta and deband on them as a safety precaution. The party rushed towards their destination, and quickly came to a large clearing close to the edge of the forest. A small pond connected to a little stream was at the far side of the clearing, and a huge tree occupied a decent chunk of the remaining space. The scene was not completely peaceful however, because there were two corpses lying in the middle of the field, large pools of blood surrounding them, the bodies looking like they’ve been slashed multiple times.
“If I wasn’t a droid… I might’ve been sick right about now…” Striker groaned as he looked over the scene.

Dark Desires - A fanfiction by Pink - pink - 15-10-2006

“Look! Over there!” Raiden exclaimed, pointing to the far end of the clearing. Fighting could be seen where Raiden was pointing. A HUmar was desperately trying to fend off a shadowy figure, showing obvious signs of being over-powered it was all he could do to defend against it.
“That looks like Pink! Come on, we’ve got to do something to prevent her from killing him!” Cranberry stated, starting to rush towards the fighting.

“I think it’s a bit late for that…” Striker said, sounding a little anxious. Across the field Cranberry saw what Striker had meant, the HUmar was no longer standing and Pink was staring straight at them, the glow of her eyes still visible from the distance.
“She… doesn’t look very happy to see us…” Raiden said nervously, taking a couple of steps backward. Pink began quickly making her way towards them, slowing once she got a bit closer and stopped a little distance away from the party, her eyes flaring with rage as she gazed at Cranberry, letting out a bit of a hiss.
“I thought I told you to stay away from here!” Pink spat, obvious anger showing in her voice.

“Pink, please listen! We’re here to try and help you…” Cranberry started, but was quickly cut off by a growl.

“I don’t need anyone’s help, especially not a human’s help!” Pink growled, baring her fanged teeth at the party and taking on a fighting pose.

“P-Please listen Pink! The other hunters are trying to capture you…” Cranberry started again, once again being cut off.

“I can look after myself. Now get out of here and leave me be before you end up like the rest of those who decided to bother me.” Pink snarled furiously, gesturing towards the three dead hunters behind her.

“We just want to help get you somewhere safe on this planet, nothing more.” Cranberry blurted out, desperately trying to get through to Pink.

“Enough!” Pink lunged at Cranberry with a violent has, swinging her claws in fury. Cranberry quickly raised her blue ring to deflect the attack, and then leapt out of the way taking a defensive stance.

“Other hunters will be here soon Pink, we can help you get away from here without getting hurt.” Cranberry cried out desperately, trying her best to avoid any more attacks.

“I told you I can handle myself.” Pink growled, then quite suddenly spun around and kicked behind her, hitting Striker, who had been trying to sneak up behind her, hard in the stomach and sending the large RAcast back a couple of feet. “You are all the same to me, and I want nothing to do with any of you.” Pink stated, gazing hate filled eyes at the three of them.

Rubbing his injured middle, Striker reported, “There are several groups of hunters nearly to our position. We may want to flee before they get here so they do not realize we are not trying to capture Pink.”

Cranberry frowned, seeing the whole plan fall apart, “Please Pink, can you not trust us just this once so we can make sure no harm comes to you? You already look horribly injured.” Cranberry added, finally noticing the bandaged wounds and burnt flesh on Pink’s body.

“I, trust, NO ONE!!!” Pink snapped, Cranberry’s offer enraging her as she charged at her again, slashing furiously. Raiden and Striker tried to get closer to help restrain Pink, but it was not working. Pink kept rolling away or retaliating with a kick or a punch to keep them back. She was getting visibly more and more furious the longer Cranberry, Black Raiden and Striker kept trying to get her to hold still. “Go away and leave me alone, or I will have to actually hurt you!” Pink yelled at the party angrily.

“We’re just trying to help!” Cranberry urged, while moving out of the way of another swipe, “We will leave you alone as long as you want once you’re safe.”

“I tried to warn you, but you would not listen!” Pink snarled viciously, very suddenly moving far quicker than before straight towards Cranberry. Cranberry’s breath caught at the sudden feel of Pink’s claws thrust into her side, quickly followed by Pink kicking her to the ground and running towards Striker and Raiden.

“That’s enough! We didn’t come here to get ourselves killed.” Striker shouted out, putting away his weapon to signal that he wasn’t going to try anything. He quickly ran over to Cranberry and got her to her feet. “We’re leaving Pink, just remember we only tried to help.” Striker said to her angrily as the party moved back into the forest. Cranberry quickly cast resta on herself a few times to get the wound on her side to close and heal some.

“That’s a pain I’m not going to be forgetting anytime soon…” Cranberry sighed, her face a touch lacking of its normal colour from the blood loss, her clothes badly stained.

“I think we should stay close and monitor the situation around here… keep a secret eye on Pink. She may be more willing to come with us when she’s being chased down by the hundred or so hunters that are looking for her.” Raiden suggested, looking at Cranberry with a bit of concern. “Are you going to be okay to keep going Cranberry, you don’t look so good…” Raiden added a look of worry in her eyes.

Cranberry nodded and replied with, “A stab like that may have hurt, but my resta fixed it up nicely. I’ll be perfectly fine. I like your idea though Raiden, she’ll most likely be more willing to follow us if we’re the only hunters not trying to bring her any harm.”

“Fine, we’ll keep a secret eye on her, but let’s make sure to stay hidden from everyone, not just Pink. If anyone figures out we’re trying to help her, we’re all in danger.” Striker stated, not sounding too pleased.

“Alright, I’ve got a plan that should work… Here’s what we’re going to do…” Cranberry began a clever glint in her eyes. The party huddled close together, discussing how they were going to go about helping Pink out of this predicament without getting them turned into sliced droid with a side of fresh cut cranberries.
