Get a Grom Buster (avoid Hegel, imo), and judge where the enemies are going to be, and don't forget that as you summon the SUV you CAN change the direction of fire briefly. Use that to your advantage.

Is the gatling SUV any good? I'd prefer that one to the giant laser beam thing, but I've never seen anyone use it so I've got no idea what it does!

The Gatling one has a wider spread, so for C missions, it's good. It's cheaper as well. The Laser just pwns though. It fires in a cone forward, so you can use it to clear small rooms if need be, and it does so much damage it's untrue. Also, against multipart bosses (like, uh. all of them) It's just devastating.
