Anyway, this might sound redundant, but don't die or anything...
(The marines are basicly a special division of the ground army, nothing like aquatic assault forces...that would be the navy...)

i have a friend who wants to join the army and serve as a sniper, he'll be doing so in about a year or so i think.

No this thread must stay alive, until he gets back anyway. And the easiest way to explain the Marines here in the U.S. is that they're straight up badasses. My stepdad on the other hand made mince meat of a Marine once. The Marine was a badass, but little did he know that my stepdad was a black belt. The Marine came at him with a knife my stepdad caught his arm, snapped it and stole the knife and he still has it. It's one of those heavy boot knifes and it's still razor sharp after 15 years. But the true badasses of our military are the Seals. *whistles (although I really can't) through teeth* those guys are our elite tactical ops units. There training makes the training of the Marines look like preschool.

The marines have their own special forces you know... Recon. They're real badasses. Pretty much all of the special forces are. Like the Green Berets, Seals, Recon, Rangers... they're all freaking tough. I took the Marine fitness test and to even be considered for special forces you have to get a 285 out 300. The test consisted of a 2.5 mile run (for a perfect score needed under 16 minutes), pull-ups (20 in a row for perfect), and sit-ups (100 in 2 minutes for a perfect. I think I got 230 something.
